Form 1: The Application Review Sample Application First Access Sample Application through the Field Experience website. Once you have read through the sample application information you will find a link at the bottom that shows what the application looks like.

Application Log In Go to My.Mansfield to apply. Use campus services ID to log in – same as used with D2L. Use the tab key to move between fields. Print out 1 copy for your application packet.

Tentative Regions Identify three teaching region choices. Not every district listed is used each semester. Mansfield makes final determination of location and semester of student teaching. Diversity will be considered. Please do not contact a potential cooperating teacher and/or administrator without permission.

Unique Placements ** Require Special Permission Alaska –Fall & Spring Assignments (no art or music) Philadelphia – Fall & Spring Assignments Window Rock, AZ – Spring Assignments Identify your interest in any of these areas as your third region choice.

The Application is a Guideline for Making Assignments Every effort is made to place students within the three regions selected. However, assignments can not be guaranteed. Under NO circumstances should a student contact districts, schools, or teachers to attempt to arrange a placement. This is a violation of the legal agreements signed between each district and Mansfield University.

Assignment Guidelines Candidates for student teaching may not be assigned within schools or school districts wherein they: 1. have attended or graduated; 2. have children (whether natural parent or guardian) or member of their immediate family attending; 3. have members of the immediate family or “significant other” employed in any capacity; 4. have members of the immediate family serving on the Board of Education; 5. have members of family or their “significant other” attending or working;

Assignment Guidelines Continued 6. have financial ties. (Policy Passed By the Teacher Education Council of Chairpersons, April, 1998) Great care is put into assigning placements that offer the best possible learning experiences in educationally enriching and diverse settings. Do not sign a housing lease before receiving confirmed student teaching assignments. Transportation and housing are the student’s responsibility.

Other Points of Interest: Registering for Student Teaching The Field Experience Office will register students for Student Teaching and Professional Seminar, the course that accompanies Student Teaching. Petitioned courses must be registered by the student. The Intent to Graduate form needs to be turned in one year in advance. (Academic Records – Forms – Application for Graduation.)

Planning In Advance... Student teaching is viewed as a full-time job. Try not to work during student teaching. If a student must work, then a form must be completed on the first day of student teaching. If employment interferes with student teaching, a choice will have to be made.

Mansfield Account Important information from the Field Experience Office will be sent via Mansfield . Please get into the habit of systematically checking MU .
