Louis XIV of France.

Map of when Louis ruled.

QUOTE. "L'tat, c'est moi” “I am the state” Louis XIV of France 1643 My interpretation of this quote is that Louis is trying to say that he is the ruler and everyone should obey him because not only is he a king he is France.

Accomplishments Social- Louis’s set up schools for painting and sculpting. Political- Louis XIV dispatched the war of devolution( ) against the Spanish Netherlands. Fighting was started by the French and the purpose of the war was because the Netherlands owed France money. Economic- parliaments lost their traditional power to vote and they had to follow everything Louis said. Extra- Louis discovered the Palace of Versailles, also known as the “Hall of mirrors.” It’s where he lived, and it was in the center of town and the palace impressed everyone.
