Presentation transcript:

09-1 Smoke-free hospital signage Smoke-free-hospital signage Signage needs to be adapted continuously to changes within relevant hospital situations and periodically renew. Smoke-free hospital signs are important in the implementation of a smoke-free hospital.

09-2 Smoke-free hospital signage At the gate of the hospital A very large size sign should indicate the beginning of a smoke free area (with the exception, in some cases of a designated smoking room) and state that the hospital is a smoke-free hospital Smoking-free hospital For the protection of health, please don’t smoke inside this hospital

09-3 Smoke-free hospital signage At the entrance of all buildings Signs placed at all entrances indicate that the building is a smoke-free area (a designated smoking room for patients may be identified). Smoke-free hospital This building is a smoke-free building. Please extinguish your cigarette before entering this building

09-4 Smoke-free hospital signage Inside hospital buildings (including technical and administrative buildings) Smoke-free signs are unnecessary if nobody smokes A strong sign could have a major effect on smokers. Smoking rooms (if considered necessary) should be clearly indicated. Smoking Room

09-5 Smoke-free hospital signage Smoking room Signs in smoking rooms reinforce the prohibition of smoking outside of the smoking room (the smoking room door must be kept closed at all times ). The smoking room needs to have its own ventilation system with air extraction, to prevent the recycling of polluted air into other rooms in the building. Smoking room Please don’t smoke outside of this room You are in a smoke-free hospital

09-6 Smoke-free hospital signage Signage on paper documents Patient information should include the statement that the hospital is a smoke-free hospital. Support provided for smokers should also be explained in these documents.
