Objectives Understanding of the importance of a good user interface in software products Knowledge about how the usability of the user interface can be evaluated Familiarization with human data processing models and applying these models to user interface design on Windows software, mobile software and network services

Contents Generations of user interfaces Usability and usability testing Multi-store model of human memory Gestalt laws and attention points Visualisation: graphics, fonts, colours, sounds Design principles and design process of user interface design Giving feedback Style guides of Windows, mobile phones and personal digital assistants

Requirements Exam UI evaluation assignment Participation in lectures

Assessment Grading scale 0 – 5 Both exam and assignment must be passed for a grade Exam = 20 p Assignment = 20 p 80 % attendance = 5 p Points required for K5 = 40 p
