 Focus on college-based & local scholarships.  Review ScholarshipQuest at EducationQuest.org.  Search free sites to find national awards.  Use College Funding Estimator at EducationQuest.org to determine if eligible for need-based awards  Requst letters of recommendation 2 weeks in advance of due date.

 Money students don’t repay – based on financial need: Federal  Pell Grant (range $605-$5,645)  SEOG (Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant) State  Nebraska Opportunity Grant (from lottery dollars) College-based

 Based on financial need  Allows students to earn money while attending college  Paid for hours worked Money is not paid up-front to pay for tuition  Earnings will not impact financial aid the following year

 Need-Based – Interest does NOT accrue while in school Perkins Loan Direct Subsidized Loan  Non-Need-Based – Interest DOES accrue while in school Direct Unsubsidized Loan Parent PLUS Loan

ACE Scholarship  Pays tuition & mandatory fees for a high school student enrolled in a college course (dual-credit)  Student or parent/guardian must demonstrate eligibility SSI, Free/Reduced Lunch, TANF, SNAP, WIC, Extreme Hardship  Documentation verifying eligibility required with online application 
