CBL Page 3 Image/Video: Peter.jpg On-Screen Text: When new merchandise arrives, you should move it to the racks as quickly and efficiently as possible. Fast, accurate shipment processing means: You provide Customers with fresh, new and exciting merchandise The Store is returned to normal shopping conditions quickly You can spend more time with Customers Voiceover The goal of this lesson is to show you how to process a new shipment, from the time it is delivered to the time the shoes and accessories are on the sales floor. You’ll learn how to complete these tasks in the most efficient way, walking fewer steps and completing the job more quickly. Please click “next” when you’re ready to begin.

CBL Page 4 Image/Video: On-Screen Text: To learn more about handling shipments, go to Job Aids and References on Payless Central for: Unassisted Delivery Guidelines Early Read Shipments Early or Late Shipments Handling Damaged Shipment Cases …and many other topics Voiceover While you’re learning to process shipment, you can refer to the poster in your stock room for step- by-step instructions. Job aids and references on Payless Central also provide detailed information on topics related to shipment processing. You can print these to help you practice and remember.

CBL Page 5 Image: Video – Lee breaking down shipment On-Screen Text: Ask delivery driver to place cases in the area marked “unopened cases” Create a work surface you can reach comfortably Wear a back belt and use proper lifting techniques Wear an apron Focus on limiting walking Try to finish within the timing standards on the shipment poster Voiceover: To make your job easier, the backroom floor has been marked with tape to show you where to position the shipment cases and carts you will use. Ask the delivery driver to place the shipment cases inside the area marked for “unopened cases.” Then move the large carts into the marked areas. Place two cases (atop each other) on the floor to create a work surface you can reach comfortably without much bending. Always wear a back belt and use proper lifting techniques. While breaking down shipment, wear the apron to keep your clothes clean. The apron pocket is also a convenient place to keep track of the box cutter, which will save time. Remove the apron before you return to the sales floor.

CBL Page 6 Image/Video: Video – Lee breaking down shipment On-Screen Text: Complete the shipment in the backroom PC Sync the scanner Place a case near your work area to hold empty cardboard boxes Sort shoe boxes onto the large cart by gender and size Keep the box cutter in your apron pocket Voiceover Complete the shipment in the backroom PC so all information is up- to-date. Then sync the scanner so it’s ready to go with the updated information. Open the top case with your box cutter and begin removing the shoe boxes, sorting them on to the large cart by gender and by size, with the barcodes facing out. Keep the box cutter in your apron pocket when you’re not using it, to avoid misplacing it and wasting time. Place an empty case near your work area. This is where you will put the empty cardboard boxes. Continue until all cases are sorted. Place any accessory cases to the side to be worked on later.

CBL Page 7 Image/Video: Video – Lee doing gravity clean on small cart. On-Screen Text: Place small cart in front of big cart Position everything you need within easy reach Move boxes to small cart four at a time Voiceover In the backroom, place a small cart in front of the big cart, and set a trash can beside the small cart. Make your job easier by positioning everything you need within arm’s reach. Move boxes from the large cart to the top of the small cart four at a time for greatest efficiency.

CBL Page 8 Image: Video – Lee doing gravity clean on small cart. Then show image of vamped shoe. On-Screen Text: Quick clean only: It takes half the time of full cleaning Gravity clean: Turn the box upside down to quickly remove all its contents Remove toe coverings from the right shoe only Place shoes in the box vamped Voiceover To quick-clean, first gravity clean the shoes by turning the box upside down on the small cart and removing the tissue paper. Leave the sticks inside the shoes. If the shoe has toe coverings, remove them from the right shoe only. Leave all stuffing in both shoes. If you are a sensor tag store, insert the sensor tag pin in the left shoe. Return the quick cleaned shoes to the box vamped, as shown here. Please be sure to only quick clean each box of shoes. Quick cleaning takes just half the time of full cleaning and it tells the customer that the shoes are new.

CBL Page 9 Image/Video: Video – Lee doing gravity clean on small cart. On-Screen Text: Please be sure to only quick clean each box of shoes Quick cleaning takes just half the time of full cleaning and it tells the Customer that the shoes are new Sort shoes onto your cart by department, brand and size for faster rack running Voiceover Please be sure to only quick clean each box of shoes. Quick cleaning takes just half the time of full cleaning and it tells the customer that the shoes are new. As you clean each box of shoes, move them to the bottom shelves of your small cart, sorting by department, brand and size to make it easier and faster to run them to the racks.

CBL Page 10 Image/Video: No video – do you need image? On-Screen Text: Move the small cart to a back end panel on the sales floor Watch for Customers while you work Voiceover In a single coverage store, load a small cart with selected gender and sizes and position the loaded cart at a back end panel on the sales floor. This way you can watch for customers while you work. Continue with the rest of the cleaning process on the sales floor. For stores with double coverage, however, processing in the backroom is faster than processing on the sales floor.

CBL Page 11 Image/Video: Video – Lee using scanner and tagging. On-Screen Text: Verify that your scanner is synced properly by checking the sync date at the bottom of the screen. Use the Backroom Scan function to identify: Rack representation Shoes for promo tagging New shoes Voiceover Confirm that your batch scanner has been synced, then organize the tagging laptop and place it on top of the small cart. Using the backroom scan function on your batch scanner, begin scanning the barcode on each box to identify shoes for promo tagging and lots not currently represented in the racks. If the scanner identifies a shoe as “on promotion,” choose the appropriate price tag from the tagging laptop and attach it to the box. If the scanner identifies an unrepresented lot, pull the box forward slightly so you can easily identify it as a high priority to work into the racks. Do not place rack rep tags on boxes until you have run the shoes and are ready to place excess lots in topstock.

CBL Page 12 Image/Video: Video Moving small cart to racks, rack rep. On-Screen Text: If you have an unrepresented shoe that will not fit in the racks, place a rack rep flag on the front of the box lid and put the box in topstock Think ahead when running shoes into the rack. Avoid multiple touches of the same shoe when working the rack plan Voiceover Move your small cart to the racks according to the size and gender of shoes on the cart. Fill empty spaces in the racks with new and unrepresented shoes first. If you have an unrepresented shoe that will not fit into the racks, stick a rack rep flag on the right side of the box lid and place the box in topstock. This will make it easier to choose which shoes to use first when refilling the racks as spaces open up.

CBL Page 13 Image/Video: Accessory Video On-Screen Text: You will have 2 sets of accessory bins labeled for: AC1 and Shoe Care Women’s and Men’s Hosiery Kids’ Accessories Handbags and VIA Wall Voiceover To process a new accessory shipment, prepare your cart in the backroom by placing four empty accessory bins on the lower shelves of the small cart. You will have two sets of accessory bins. One set will be used for processing shipment and the other will be used to store extra accessories that will not fit on racks. These bins will be used for fixture replenishment on a non- shipment day.

CBL Page 14 Image/Video: Accessory Video On-Screen Text: Put an empty bin on the top shelf of your cart for trash Sort the accessories into the labeled bins, still in their packaging Video Put an empty bin on one side of the top shelf to use for trash, and place the accessory case to be sorted next to it. Open the case and sort the product, placing each one into its proper bin, leaving all products in their packaging.

CBL Page 15 Image/Video: Accessory Video On-Screen Text: Move your cart to the fixture to minimize walking and reaching Place each item on the fixture according to the current InfoSource Voiceover To run the accessories to the sales floor, move your cart next to the first fixture to be filled, to minimize walking and reaching. Take an item out of its bin on the cart, remove packaging and throw it in the trash bin, then place the item on the fixture according to the current InfoSource. Fill the fixture, then move your cart to the next fixture and continue the process. When you have replenished all the fixtures, return the cart and labeled bins to the stockroom, and empty the trash bin into a garbage bag.
