Energy Use in the OECS

Oceans and Sustainable Development

The Oceans: sustainable governance Adopt multiple ocean planning and Integrated Mgt. Promote Social and Economic Development sustainable use of the resources Building Resilience and Managing for uncertainties- Climate change

<3 <1 Harnessing Oceans Energy Examples of applicable OE technologies include; Combined Cooling and Desalination technologies, Ocean Current Energy, Ocean Thermal Energy Conversion, Offshore Wind Energy, Tidal Energy, Wave Energy and Floating Solar Photovoltaic.

Challenge…. Cost are high But likely a Convergence typically $350/MWh

Marine Renewable toward energy efficiency Marine Renewables The proposed project will facilitate the assessment of the gross and theoretically extractable Ocean Energy resources of the nearshore and territorial waters provide clear recommendations on the geographical areas most suited for future array-scale deployment of OE technologies.

Contribution of the Oceans Marine Renewables The primary output will be the creation of an Ocean Energy Atlas for the OECS incorporating ‘base layer’ resource data across the applicable OE technologies
