CICILS/IPTIC CONVENTION 2009 APRIL 17-20, ANTALYA, TURKEY, 17 Matters of Concern for Myanmar Trade.  Unstable currency exchange rate.  Most of the trade on 100% advance payment basis.  Defaults by local suppliers in Myanmar from time to time.  Foreign companies are not allowed to procure locally in local currency.  Wide and drastic fluctuations in prices, at times 4 – 5 % intraday.  Financing Mechanism for Exports.  Very high informal interest rates.  Exports and Imports subject to Licences.  Frequent variation in Export licence prices.  Majority Banks not handling Myanmar documents.  Govt. direct buying.
