History of Mongolia Nomadic herders for thousands of years. Genghis Khan Conquered all of Central Asia and parts of China in 1227. Mongolia became a part of China in the 1600s until independence in 1911. 1924 became the Mongolian People’s Republic and ruled with communism for 72 years. 1989 began moving toward democracy.

Mongolian culture China was a cultural hearth of influence. Influenced by the Soviet Union during the 20th century. Economy of Mongolia Nomadic lifestyles with camels, horses, cattle and goats used for cashmere. Shifted to a market economy after communism. Large deposits of coal, petroleum, copper, gold, and iron.

Daily Life in Mongolia Difficult lifestyle as nomads in the harsh environment. Many Mongolians still live in Yurts, even in the capital city.

Economy of Taiwan One of the world’s most successful economies. Few natural resources with strong manufacturing industries and trade. Considered an economic tiger with rapid growth.
