Steven Covey – Covey is vice-chairman of Franklin Covey company, the largest management and leadership development organization in the world. He is best known for “The Habits of Highly Effective People.

Four Dimensions of Moral Authority of conscience The essence of moral authority or conscience is sacrifice. Conscience inspires us to become part of a cause worthy of our commitment. When we change our question from asking what is it we want to what is being asked of us, our conscience is opened up and we allow ourselves to be influenced by it. Conscience teaches us that ends and means are inseparable, that ends actually preexist in the means.

Seven things that will destroy us - Gandhi Wealth without work Pleasure without conscience Knowledge without character Commerce without morality Science without humanity Worship without sacrifice Politics without principle. …it is ego that tells us that the end justifies the means, unaware that a worthy end can never be accomplished with an unworthy means.

Covey -4 dimensions continued Conscience introduces us into the world of relationships. Conscience also transforms passion into compassion.

Moral Authority and Servant Leadership - Greenleaf A new moral principle is emerging which holds that the only authority deserving one’s allegiance is that which is freely and knowingly granted by the led to theleader in response to, and in proportion to, the clearly evident servant stature of the leader.

Covey… It has generally been my experience that the very top people of truly great organizations are servant-leaders. They are the most humble, the most reverent, the most open, the most teachable, the most respectful, the most caring, and the most determined.

Covey I believe that the overwhelming majority of the people in this country, with the right kind of servant leadership at all levels – most important, at the family level – could heal our country.
