Background on PSEF PSE established at Miami in 1957 PSE Foundation established in 1960 Notable highlights – Over 1300 graduates from the program – Vast majority still in the pulp and paper industry – Separate Alumni Council augments PSEF efforts – Close cooperation with MU Development PSEF Structure – Board of Trustees: 21 members, 3 classes of 7 each – Committees: 10 standing committees

Program Limited Endowment Income – Managing scholarship program to fit within endowment income budget – Undertaking steps to add $1.5 million to endowment Engaging Alumni – Meet with every graduating senior – Regular communication with alums – Rebuilding current alumni database – Engaging alums on committees and energizing around scholarship endowments – Anchoring the mission in the hearts of the alums, reaching out to top scholarship awardees, frequent communications from PSEF office Strengths and Opportunities – PSE Faculty and corporate connectivity – Increased alumni and corporate support (financial and engagement)

Employment Study of PSE Graduates from : – 3 are in graduate school – 23 work within the paper industry 5 in Sales & Marketing positions 13 as Manufacturing Engineers 3 as Environmental Engineers 2 as Research & Development Engineers – 6 are employed in other industries

Future Our Crystal Ball – Concern over shrinking production base in US paper industry – Continued high demand for PSE engineers to enter the industry, not restricted to just ChE – Restricted discretionary spending, more scrutiny regarding PSEF corporate member and individual member fees Institutional Challenges – The landscape of higher education is shifting dramatically in terms of student demographics, technology, public accountability, degree valuation, global competition, and the rising costs of tuition and student debt. Miami’s Response – Miami is executing an innovative plan to achieve its vision to offer "the best undergraduate experience in the nation, enhanced by superior, select graduate programs.“ Out of the Box – Ad hoc marketing group to achieve new strategic initiatives – Charged alumni with meeting committee goals – Hold committee chairs accountable using bi-monthly conference calls – Engaged MU Development office to enhance fundraising capacity – Launched increased online social media presence (LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube) – Rebuilding web site for launch in late October
