WHAT IS AN ENGINEER? Engineers explore problems of society and try to fix them These problems can be big or small Engineers try to make modern technology more efficient and less costly
MEDICAL ROBOTS Medical robots are being developed to perform operations and can be potentially more accurate and consistent than human doctors
SOLAR PANELS Engineers are working on ways to make solar panels more efficient and less costly so that they can be used by a wider range of people
ELEPHANT PROSTHETIC Engineers have developed a prosthetic leg for an elephant who lost his leg by stepping on a land mine
KETCHUP BOTTLE LINING Engineers from MIT have developed a lining for condiment bottles that makes sure all of the contents slide out of the bottle.
TYPES OF ENGINEERS Aeronautical- Flying Agricultural- Farming Building- Build Mechanical- Engines and mechanical systems Mining- Coal and natural gases Chemical- Works with chemicals
ENGINEERING SCHOOLS (2015) 2
CONCLUSION Engineers solve our world’s problems and make technology more efficient Engineers follow a series of steps to solve problems Engineers can solve big or little problems of society There are many different types of engineers that focus on solving different problems The top 3 engineering schools predicted for 2015 are MIT(1), Stanford(2), and Berkeley(3)
