This shall be a sign to the house of Israel. 4 Lie thou also upon thy left side, and lay the iniquity of the house of Israel upon it: according to the number of the days that thou shalt lie upon it thou shalt bear their iniquity. 5 For I have laid upon thee the years of their iniquity, according to the number of the days, three hundred and ninety days: so shalt thou bear the iniquity of the house of Israel. 6 And when thou hast accomplished them, lie again on thy right side, and thou shalt bear the iniquity of the house of Judah forty days: I have appointed thee each day for a year. 7 Therefore thou shalt set thy face toward the siege of Jerusalem, and thine arm shall be uncovered, and thou shalt prophesy against it. 8 And, behold, I will lay bands upon thee, and thou shalt not turn thee from one side to another, till thou hast ended the days of thy siege. 9 Take thou also unto thee wheat, and barley, and beans, and lentiles, and millet, and fitches, and put them in one vessel, and make thee bread thereof, according to the number of the days that thou shalt lie upon thy side, three hundred and ninety days shalt thou eat thereof. 10 And thy meat which thou shalt eat shall be by weight, twenty shekels a day: from time to time shalt thou eat it. 11 Thou shalt drink also water by measure, the sixth part of an hin: from time to time shalt thou drink. 12 And thou shalt eat it as barley cakes, and thou shalt bake it with dung that cometh out of man, in their sight 13 And the Lord said, Even thus shall the children of Israel eat their defiled bread among the Gentiles, whither I will drive them. 14 Then said I, Ah Lord God! behold, my soul hath not been polluted: for from my youth up even till now have I not eaten of that which dieth of itself, or is torn in pieces; neither came there abominable flesh into my mouth. 15 Then he said unto me, Lo, I have given thee cow's dung for man's dung, and thou shalt prepare thy bread therewith. 16 Moreover he said unto me, Son of man, behold, I will break the staff of bread in Jerusalem: and they shall eat bread by weight, and with care; and they shall drink water by measure, and with astonishment: 17 That they may want bread and water, and be astonied one with another, and consume away for their iniquity.

Dates and Times 14 times in Ezekiel the words ‘year’, ‘month’ and ‘day’ appear together in a single verse to designatd a specifc date. Eze_1:1; Eze_29:17; Eze_1:2; Eze_30:20; Eze_8:1; Eze_31:1; Eze_20:1; Eze_32:1; Eze_24:1; Eze_32:17; Eze_26:1; Eze_33:21; Eze_29:1; Eze_40:1; It appears that God wanted us to know the specific day in history that some event occurred. Times and durations are prominent in Ezekiel’s writings. Historical dates in Scripture become markers from which we can measure some future event. God did not include any statement or any fact in his Word just to fill a page or provide us with a Bible Trivia question. It’s all there for a reason. In Ezekiel 4:1-8, God gives Ezekiel specific instructons to lie on one side then another without turning for a set number of days totalling 430 – each of which represented a year of God’s punishment on Israel and Judeh for disobedience.

Who started this ??? Ezekiel, a priest, was one of God’s prophets still living and serving back in Israel’s homeland at the time. Ezekiel lying on one side 390 days and then the other for another 40 days – each day symbolizing a year of God’s punishment on Isreal and Judah for their iniquity – represented the length of God’s punishment length for their failure to obey and honor God’s commands. The length of the punishment was determined by the length of time Israel had ignored God’s commands By the time Ezekiel was told to do this Israel and Judah were already conquered, desolated and largely in captivity. The one who was enforcing God’s justice was Nebuchadnezzar – the Babylonian ruler who captured Israel and subsequently destroyed Jerusalem. It is these events that start the clock on Israel’s punishment…

Ezekiel's 430 years - (Ezek 4:1-8). To represent the punishment for iniquity: Israel 390 days vs 5 To represent the punishment for iniquity: Judah 40 days vs 6 Hebrew peoples 430 days Each day represents a year 430 years vs 6 The Babylonian Captivity clearly accounts for 70 years 2 Chr 36:21 Which leaves 360 years The remaining 360 years do not seem to fit any specific time of history. ??? So, where are the other 360 years ??? Let’s see what God had to say about the ‘iniquity’ of Israel…the sins that brought on God’s punishment. 2 Chron. 36:21 To fulfil the word of the Lord by the mouth of Jeremiah, until the land had enjoyed her sabbaths: for as long as she lay desolate she kept sabbath, to fulfil threescore and ten years.

Land Sabbath God said the Babylonian captivity was due in part to Israel’s refusal to honor His command to allow the land to have its Sabbath. 2 Chron. 36:21 To fulfil the word of the Lord by the mouth of Jeremiah, until the land had enjoyed her sabbaths: for as long as she lay desolate she kept sabbath, to fulfil threescore and ten [70] years. Apparently, the Land Sabbath had been omitted for 490 years or 70 land sabbaths thus the length of the captivity was to be 70 years. See: Jer 25:9-12 But note, God indicated through Ezekiel that there were to be 430 years punishment. We’re still missing the other 360 years … Check Leviticus 26:21-45 for a clue Lev 26:21 And if ye walk contrary unto me, and will not hearken unto me; I will bring seven times more plagues upon you according to your sins. God then goes on to describe the punishments and calamities that will fall on them. Notice that among the things that bring punishement is disobeying God’s command to allow the land to lie fallow every seventh year – a land Sabbath. Lev 26:34-35 Then shall the land enjoy her sabbaths, as long as it lieth desolate, and ye be in your enemies' land; even then shall the land rest, and enjoy her sabbaths. 35 As long as it lieth desolate it shall rest; because it did not rest in your sabbaths, when ye dwelt upon it. God closes the passage with a promise that if they accept their just punishment and turn to Him, He will; restore the land, restore them to Himself and to them to their land

Did you see it ??? ??? Okay, still - So What ??? There are several passages in Leviticus that indicate that if Israel doesn't obey the first time God will multiply her punishment by seven Lev 26:18 And if ye will not yet for all this hearken unto me, then I will punish you seven times more for your sins. Lev 26:21 And if ye walk contrary unto me, and will not hearken unto me; I will bring seven times more plagues upon you according to your sins. Lev 26:24 Then will I also walk contrary unto you, and will punish you yet seven times for your sins. Lev 26:28 Then I will walk contrary unto you also in fury; and I, even I, will chastise you seven times for your sins. 360 years X 7 = 2,520 years360. ??? Okay, still - So What ??? Does 2,520 years fit any other time period or bring us to any other important date in Israel’s national history?

Check your Calendars There have been several changes One change was in 701 B.C. In 701 B.C., all calendars appear to have been reorganized. Numa Pompilius, the 2nd King of Borne, reorganized the original calendar of 360 days per year, by adding 5 days per year. King Hezekiah, Numa's contemporary, reorganized his Jewish calendar by adding a month each Jewish leap year (on a cycle of 7 every 19 years.) (A fascinating conjecture as to the cause of this calendar change is the possible orbital effects of the Planet Mars which some believe has changed between our day and theirs.) The Biblical Calendar uses 360 day years – 30 day months - etc. Gen. 7:24; 8:3,4, etc. In Revelation, 42 months = 3 1/2 years = 1260 days, etc. Sir Robert Anderson: milestone work on this insight. Genesis 7:24 And the waters prevailed upon the earth an hundred and fifty days. Genesis 8:3 And the waters returned from off the earth continually: and after the end of the hundred and fifty days the waters were abated. Genesis 8:4 And the ark rested in the seventh month, on the seventeenth day of the month, upon the mountains of Ararat.

What’s this about Leap Years The Julian year is 11 minutes 10.46 seconds longer than the mean solar year. Which is why every year which is evenly divisible by 4 is a leap year – it has an extra day – 29 Feb. Even with this ‘adjustment’ the Julian calendar still contains 3 leap years too many every 4 centuries (400 years). Which is why every century not evenly divisible by 400 is not a leap year even though it is evenly divisible by 4 Dividing 2,483 by 4 = 621 leap years but with the errors that are built into the Julian calendar this includes 18 too many; (the 3 excess days every 4 centuries) As of 1752 AD, an error of 11 days had accumulated. This was corrected by the ‘Gregorian reform’, (Pope Gregory XIII) which declared September 3 to be September 14, 1752, and reckoned 1700, 1800, and 1900 to be common years and 2000 as a leap year. 18 - 11 = 7 more leap years to correct for: Therefore we need to further adjust any date investigations that use our calendar by 621 - 7 = 614 days.

The Gregorian reform of 1582 AD (or not): 10 or 11 days were omitted from the calendar, (depending on when you made the accepted the change). The Protestant countries and governments didn’t like the Pope messing with the calendar and not everyone made the same adjustment at the same time. Some nations delayed adopting the Gregorian Reform to as late as 1752 AD when an 11 day adjustment was necessary. Everybody ended up using the same calendar eventually. The rule for leap years was changed. Using the Julian Calendar a year is a leap year if it is divisible by 4. Using the Gregorian Calendar a year is a leap year if either it is divisible by 4 but not by 100 or it is divisible by 400. In other words, a year which is divisible by 4 is a leap year unless it is divisible by 100 but not by 400 (in which case it is not a leap year). New rules for the determination of the date of Easter were adopted. The position of the extra day in a leap year was moved from the day before February 25th to the day following February 28th.

Ezekiel's 430 years - (Ezek 4:1-8). The Bible always seems to deal in 360 day years. Using 360 day years, 2,520 years = 907,200 days Converting the 2,520 years 360 into our 365 day years = 2,483 years 365 plus 9 months and 21 days:

1st Siege of Nebuchadnezzar: "Servitude of Nation" Battle of Carchemesh: 606 B.C.; Nebuchadnezzar vs Pharaoh Necco, W bank of Euphrates; (Jer 46:1-6.) Israel’s King Jehoikim fettered (2 Chr 36:5-8). Jehoikim released as a vassal; Temple plundered (for museum); Hostages (Daniel et al.) taken (2 Chr 36:19-21) (Daniel of Royal line ??). This begins "Servitude of the Nation"; It lasts 70 years to the day. Jeremiah 46:1-6 The word of the Lord which came to Jeremiah the prophet against the Gentiles; [2] Against Egypt, against the army of Pharaoh-necho king of Egypt, which was by the river Euphrates in Carchemish, which Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon smote in the fourth year of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah king of Judah. [3] Order ye the buckler and shield, and draw near to battle. [4] Harness the horses; and get up, ye horsemen, and stand forth with your helmets; furbish the spears, and put on the brigandines. [7] Nebuchadnezzar also carried of the vessels of the house of the Lord to Babylon, and put them in his temple at Babylon. [8] Now the rest of the acts of Jehoiakim, and his abominations which he did, and that which was found in him, behold, they are written in the book of the kings of Israel and Judah: and Jehoiachin his son reigned in his stead. 2 Chron. 36:19-21 And they burnt the house of God, and brake down the wall of Jerusalem, and burnt all the palaces thereof with fire, and destroyed all the goodly vessels thereof. [20] And them that had escaped from the sword carried he away to Babylon; where they were servants to him and his sons until the reign of the kingdom of Persia: [21] To fulfil the word of the Lord by the mouth of Jeremiah, until the land had enjoyed her sabbaths: for as long as she lay desolate she kept sabbath, to fulfil threescore and ten years.

2nd Seige of Nebuchadnezzar Jehoikim ignores Jeremiah's counsel, rebels. 5 year battle; Jehoikim dies; Jer 22:17-19. King Jehiachin (Jeconiah) reigns in Israel until the siege ends Jer 22:24-30 (Blood curse avoided by Christ's virgin birth.) His son is captured; 10,000 captives; 1000 skilled artisans; etc. 2 Kgs 24:1-4. His uncle, Zedekiah, installed as vassal king in Israel. Jeremiah and Ezekiel prophesy; but false prophets again prevail. Zedekiah’s ego trip leads to: 3rd Siege of Nebuchadnezzar Jeremiah 22:17-19 But thine eyes and thine heart are not but for thy covetousness, and for to shed innocent blood, and for oppression, and for violence, to do it. [18] Therefore thus saith the Lord concerning Jehoiakim the son of Josiah king of Judah; They shall not lament for him, saying, Ah my brother! or, Ah sister! they shall not lament for him, saying, Ah lord! or, Ah his glory! [19] He shall be buried with the burial of an ass, drawn and cast forth beyond the gates of Jerusalem. Jeremiah 22:24-30 As I live, saith the Lord, though Coniah the son of Jehoiakim king of Judah were the signet upon my right hand, yet would I pluck thee thence; [25] And I will give thee into the hand of them that seek thy life, and into the hand of them whose face thou fearest, even into the hand of Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon, and into the hand of the Chaldeans. [27] But to the land whereunto they desire to return, thither shall they not return. [30] Thus saith the Lord, Write ye this man childless, a man that shall not prosper in his days: for no man of his seed shall prosper, sitting upon the throne of David, and ruling any more in Judah. 2 Kings 24:1-4 In his days Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon came up, and Jehoiakim became his servant three years: then he turned and rebelled against him. [2] And the Lord sent against him bands of the Chaldees, and bands of the Syrians, and bands of the Moabites, and bands of the children of Ammon, and sent them against Judah to destroy it, according to the word of the Lord, which he spake by his servants the prophets. [3] Surely at the commandment of the Lord came this upon Judah, to remove them out of his sight, for the sins of Manasseh, according to all that he did; [4] And also for the innocent blood that he shed: for he filled Jerusalem with innocent blood; which the Lord would not pardon.

3rd Siege of Nebuchadnezzar "Desolations of Jerusalem" 587 B.C.; Also lasts 70 years; While they overlap, they not the same 70 years as the "Servitude of the nation" Contradictory prophecies: Jer 32:5, 39:7; Ezek 12:13; 2 Kings 25:6,7. God does not deal in approximations. City and Temple destroyed 2 Kings 24:17-20; 25:1-21. Jeremiah 32:5 And he shall lead Zedekiah to Babylon, and there shall he be until I visit him, saith the Lord: though ye fight with the Chaldeans, ye shall not prosper? Jeremiah 39:7 Moreover he put out Zedekiah's eyes, and bound him with chains, to carry him to Babylon. Ezekiel 12:13 My net also will I spread upon him, and he shall be taken in my snare: and I will bring him to Babylon to the land of the Chaldeans; yet shall he not see it, though he shall die there. 2 Kings 25:6 So they took the king, and brought him up to the king of Babylon to Riblah; and they gave judgment upon him. 2 Kings 25:7 And they slew the sons of Zedekiah before his eyes, and put out the eyes of Zedekiah, and bound him with fetters of brass, and carried him to Babylon. 2 Kings 24:17-20 And the king of Babylon made Mattaniah his father's brother king in his stead, and changed his name to Zedekiah. [18] Zedekiah was twenty and one years old when he began to reign, and he reigned eleven years in Jerusalem. And his mother's name was Hamutal, the daughter of Jeremiah of Libnah. [19] And he did that which was evil in the sight of the Lord, according to all that Jehoiakim had done. So Judah was carried away out of their land.

The Servitude of the Nation If you start with the first siege of Nebuchadnezzar, which began the "Servitude of the Nation" in 606 B.C., the 70 years of of Babylonian servitude ended in 537 B.C. Using July 23 (Julian) of the year 537 B.C. as Israel’s release from servitude, then From: 537 y 7 m 23 d BC Duration: 2483 y 9 m 21 d (2,520 years360) Adjusting: 1 y (See note below - no "year 0") Brings us to: 1948 y 5 m 14 d = May 14, 1948 On May 14, 1948, David Ben Gurion, citing the book of Ezekiel as his authority, proclaimed Israel as the new Jewish homeland. The nation Israel was reestablished on the very completion of this 360 year360 x 7 interval from the end of the "Servitude of the Nation" under Babylon. [21] And if ye walk contrary unto me, and will not hearken unto me; I will bring seven times more plagues upon you according to your sins. [22] I will also send wild beasts among you, which shall rob you of your children, and destroy your cattle, and make you few in number; and your high ways shall be desolate. [26] And when I have broken the staff of your bread, ten women shall bake your bread in one oven, and they shall deliver you your bread again by weight: and ye shall eat, and not be satisfied. [27] And if ye will not for all this hearken unto me, but walk contrary unto me; [28] Then I will walk contrary unto you also in fury; and I, even I, will chastise you seven times for your sins. [29] And ye shall eat the flesh of your sons, and the flesh of your daughters shall ye eat. [30] And I will destroy your high places, and cut down your images, and cast your carcases upon the carcases of your idols, and my soul shall abhor you. [31] And I will make your cities waste, and bring your sanctuaries unto desolation, and I will not smell the savour of your sweet odours. [32] And I will bring the land into desolation: and your enemies which dwell therein shall be astonished at it. [33] And I will scatter you among the heathen, and will draw out a sword after you: and your land shall be desolate, and your cities waste. [34] Then shall the land enjoy her sabbaths, as long as it lieth desolate, and ye be in your enemies' land; even then shall the land rest, and enjoy her sabbaths. [35] As long as it lieth desolate it shall rest; because it did not rest in your sabbaths, when ye dwelt upon it. [36] And upon them that are left alive of you I will send a faintness into their hearts in the lands of their enemies; and the sound of a shaken leaf shall chase them; and they shall flee, as fleeing from a sword; and they shall fall when none pursueth. [37] And they shall fall one upon another, as it were before a sword, when none pursueth: and ye shall have no power to stand before your enemies. [38] And ye shall perish among the heathen, and the land of your enemies shall eat you up. [39] And they that are left of you shall pine away in their iniquity in your enemies' lands; and also in the iniquities of their fathers shall they pine away with them. [40] If they shall confess their iniquity, and the iniquity of their fathers, with their trespass which they trespassed against me, and that also they have walked contrary unto me; [41] And that I also have walked contrary unto them, and have brought them into the land of their enemies; if then their uncircumcised hearts be humbled, and they then accept of the punishment of their iniquity: [42] Then will I remember my covenant with Jacob, and also my covenant with Isaac, and also my covenant with Abraham will I remember; and I will remember the land. [43] The land also shall be left of them, and shall enjoy her sabbaths, while she lieth desolate without them: and they shall accept of the punishment of their iniquity: because, even because they despised my judgments, and because their soul abhorred my statutes. [44] And yet for all that, when they be in the land of their enemies, I will not cast them away, neither will I abhor them, to destroy them utterly, and to break my covenant with them: for I am the Lord their God. [45] But I will for their sakes remember the covenant of their ancestors, whom I brought forth out of the land of Egypt in the sight of the heathen, that I might be their God: I am the Lord. The Desolations of Jerusalem If you start with the 3rd siege of Nebuchadnezzar, which began the "Desolations of Jerusalem" in 587 B.C., the seventy years of desolations ended in 518 B.C. Using August 16 (Julian) in the year 518 B.C. as the completion of the desolations of Jerusalem, then 360 years360 punishment x 7 converted to our Julian calendar then From: 518 y 8 m 16 d BC Duration: 2483 y 9 m 21 d (2,520 years360) Adjusting: 1 y (See note below - no "year 0") Brings us to: 1967 y 6 m 7 d = June 7, 1967. On June 7, 1967, as a result of the "Six Day War," the Old City of Jerusalem again came under Israeli control. The ancient punishment of Israel know as the “Desolations of Jerusalem” ended. The 2,520 years360 were accomplished. Note: No year “0”. Dating went from 1 BC to 1 AD

Remember Jesus' prediction: "...Jerusalem will be trampled on by the Gentiles until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled." Luke 21:24 Jerusalem is again under Jewish control but the Gentiles still “trample” it. That will change very soon… The “times of the Gentiles” ends with Jesus Second Coming.

The next Jewish King to rule is Jesus Christ our Lord Don't confuse the "Servitude of the Nation" with the "Desolations of Jerusalem“, the “times of the Gentiles” or the “fullness of the Gentiles” The “Servitude of the Nation” was Israel’s punishment for abandoning God’s command and not following His instructions, including not honoring the Land Sabbath. It ended in 1948. The "Desolations of Jerusalem" was Israel’s further punishment for not yielding to the “Servitude": Jer 27:6, 8, 11; 38:17-21. Cf. Jer 29:10; Dan 9:2. It ended in 1967. Both the "Servitude of the Nation" and the "Desolations of Jerusalem" were predicted to last 70 years360. Two different 70 year periods staggered by 20 years. 70 years 360 = 25,200 days = 69 years 365 less 2 days. The 70 years were completed but due to Israel not obeying the first time the remaining 360 years were multiplied by 7 to 2,520 years360 days each Nebuchadnezzar taking Judea captive began the period known as the "times of the Gentiles." It ends with Jesus “Second Coming” to rule and reign on the earth Cf. Luk 21:24. Jer 25:9; Nebuchadnezzar is "my servant"! Dan 2:21. No king from the line of David has ruled over Israel since the Babylonian captivity. The next Jewish King to rule is Jesus Christ our Lord The “fullness of the Gentiles” is what we commonly call the “Church Age” which ends with the ‘Rapture’ and again focuses attention on Israel as God’s people and quickly begins the 70th 7 of Daniel 9:24-27 during which Israel is purged and its tasks completed as God deals with and works through them. Jeremiah 27:6 And now have I given all these lands into the hand of Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon, my servant; and the beasts of the field have I given him also to serve him. Jeremiah 27:8 And it shall come to pass, that the nation and kingdom which will not serve the same Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon, and that will not put their neck under the yoke of the king of Babylon, that nation will I punish, saith the Lord, with the sword, and with the famine, and with the pestilence, until I have consumed them by his hand. Jeremiah 27:11 But the nations that bring their neck under the yoke of the king of Babylon, and serve him, those will I let remain still in their own land, saith the Lord; and they shall till it, and dwell therein. Jeremiah 38:17-21 Then said Jeremiah unto Zedekiah, Thus saith the Lord, the God of hosts, the God of Israel; If thou wilt assuredly go forth unto the king of Babylon's princes, then thy soul shall live, and this city shall not be burned with fire; and thou shalt live, and thine house: [18] But if thou wilt not go forth to the king of Babylon's princes, then shall this city be given into the hand of the Chaldeans, and they shall burn it with fire, and thou shalt not escape out of their hand. [19] And Zedekiah the king said unto Jeremiah, I am afraid of the Jews that are fallen to the Chaldeans, lest they deliver me into their hand, and they mock me. [20] But Jeremiah said, They shall not deliver thee. Obey, I beseech thee, the voice of the Lord, which I speak unto thee: so it shall be well unto thee, and thy soul shall live. [21] But if thou refuse to go forth, this is the word that the Lord hath shewed me: Jeremiah 29:10 For thus saith the Lord, That after seventy years be accomplished at Babylon I will visit you, and perform my good word toward you, in causing you to return to this place. Daniel 9:2 In the first year of his reign I Daniel understood by books the number of the years, whereof the word of the Lord came to Jeremiah the prophet, that he would accomplish seventy years in the desolations of Jerusalem. Luke 21:24 And they shall fall by the edge of the sword, and shall be led away captive into all nations: and Jerusalem shall be trodden down of the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles be fulfilled. Jeremiah 25:9 Behold, I will send and take all the families of the north, saith the Lord, and Nebuchadrezzar the king of Babylon, my servant, and will bring them against this land, and against the inhabitants thereof, and against all these nations round about, and will utterly destroy them, and make them an astonishment, and an hissing, and perpetual desolations.
