Sample Template for Poster Presentation Anup KC, Pratisthit Lal Shrestha Supervisor: Hari Prasad Neopane, Ph.D Department of Mechanical Engineering, School of Engineering, Kathmandu University, Nepal Introduction This is a sample template for poster presentation prepared by Mr. Anup KC and Mr. Pratisthit Lal Shrestha. This template will serve as an aid for preparing the poster of yearly project work performed by undergraduate students of Department of Mechanical Engineering, Kathmandu University. Students are expected to display the poster prepared in this format during their final project presentation. This template is sized to create a 48” wide by 36” tall poster. Poster can be either in portrait layout or in landscape layout. Please do not alter the page size or the graphics and layout will be distorted. Methodology This poster template has been designed for use in PowerPoint 2007 or greater. Information must be homogeneously distributed throughout the poster. Texts must be well balanced with figures/graphs/tables. Strictly use single type of fontface- Arial, Calibri or Times New Roman throughout the poster. Make sure the size of the font is neither too big not too small. Adjust the font size of your text to make it fit on the poster but keep it between 24 to 36 points depending upon the volume of contents. Properly caption all the figures and tables. For portrait layout, consider 2 columns while for landscape layout, 3 to 4 columns can be used depending upon the volume of content and size of font used. Description Briefly introduce your project work here. Short paragraphs and/or bullet points can be used to explain this part and other parts incorporated in this poster. Write the names of all the members and the name of the project supervisor/s with his/her designation. When tables are included in the poster, caption must be mentioned atop the table. But when any graphs/ charts/ figures are incorporated, mention the caption below the item, as shown in the example below. F= m.a [N](1) Results Use of symbols are encouraged for obvious terminologies like degrees, pi, Celsius. Units must be supplied in proper format and preferably in SI system. Consistency of the units is must throughout the poster. Write in points the key results and findings of your project work. Conclusions Conclude your poster by summarizing your findings and future outcomes. If you need to include acknowledgement, properly acknowledge individual/institution who are part of the project or who helped in or supported this project work. Write your major outcomes in points/bullets instead of paragraph. Mention major references, 3 to 6. The format for putting references can be understood from Thesis guidelines available in the download section of the department’s website. Students are advised to consult respective project supervisor while preparing the poster and before going for the final print out. This template is exclusively designed for the academic propose of Department of Mechanical Engineering, KU. References 1.A. Insert your abstract here. Maximum number of words for abstract is 250, preferably in single paragraph. The size of font for abstract should be one or two size smaller than the font size used in the body of poster, in bold letters. Students are advised to go through the instructions below before preparing the poster. Figure 1.2. Number of front and rear positions for different domains Figure 1.1 Placeholder for first picture Table 1.1 Data for Subsystem Correlation Subsystem# of EventsTotal NHR (95% AP) MED Events ( ) MED Excellence ( ) School Utility ( ) When adding pictures, use high resolution photo. Do not alter the aspect ratio of the picture. Make sure all the details in the pictures are clear. The texts/legends in the picture also must be large enough to be understood clearly. Any equations appearing in the poster must be numbered serially. In case of graphs, both x-axis and y-axis must be labeled. Select proper interval for both the axes so that the curves reflect the legitimate nature of the data distribution. Legend is must for multiple data distribution. For single x-axis item, legend is not required. Title is also not required within graphs/ pie charts because the caption is supplied below the items.
