Ms. DiPuglia’s 4th Grade Class Welcome, parents!

Our Goals  To give you the academic and social skills you need to progress to Middle School.  To provide a supportive and fun classroom environment.  To help you make new friends and discover new interests.

Classroom Community  Our classroom is a community. In our community, we have rules to help us get along with each other.  Our class rules are:  Come to school everyday.  Have your supplies ready.  Have your materials organized.  Pay attention in class.  Complete assignments on time.  Follow directions.  Ask for help when you need it.  Participate in class activities  Follow all school rules.  Always try to do your best.

Daily Schedule  Welcome Work- 8:30-8:45  Music – 8:30am-9:00am (Tuesday and Fridays)  Science- 9:00am-9:30am  Social Studies – 9:30am -9:55am  P.E.- 9:55am-10:25am  Lunch- 10:50am-11:20am  Art – 11:30am-12:00pm(Mondays and Thursdays)  Reading-12:00pm-1:20pm  Math – 1:20pm-2:30pm  Spanish – 2:30pm -2:55pm  Dismissal – 3:00pm

Homework  Students will receive homework almost every night.  It is the students responsibility to copy down their homework posted in my classroom. This will not be posted on my website.  Complete and return home learning assignments on time.  Make sure you have the necessary materials to complete your homework: textbook, worksheet, paper, pencil, workbook, etc.  Students are responsible for having their spelling & vocab words, they are given them at the beginning of the week.  Students are to bring their math workbook back and forth to school EVERY DAY.  After 3 missed homework assignments a detention will be issued.  Please check your child’s agenda book daily to see what homework assignments are due.

Tardiness/Absences  School starts at 8:30 A.M.  If you aren’t in the classroom by 8:30, please check in at the school office before coming to class to get a late pass.  After 10 tardies a referral with be issued.  3 unexcused absences will result in a referral  Please send a note to school with your child the day they return to school. Absences can only be excused before 72 hours.  Early dismissal: Students must be in school until 10:30 in order for it not to be counted as an unexcused absence.

Classroom Management Plan  1st time : Verbal Warning  2 nd Time: Student will go add a mark to the Blurt Chart. This will result in a yellow stamp for the day.  3 rd time : Students will go add another mark to the Blurt Chart. This will result in a red stamp for the day.  4 th time: Another mark will be added to the Blurt Chart and a Detention will be issued as well as a red stamp that must be signed by the parent  Severe Disruption: Immediate Referral to an Administrator (conduct grade lowered to an F)  Students who do not receive any marks in the blurt chart for the day will receive a green stamp in their agenda book. **Students agenda books will be stamped daily, satisfactory stamps for the week will allow the students to visit the treasure box at the end of the week. PLEASE CHECK YOUR CHILD’S AGENDA BOOK EVERY NIGHT. If they receive an unsatisfactory stamp it MUST be signed by a parent by the VERY next day.

Field Trips  We have lots of fun field trips planned for this year!  Florida Lighthouse  Florida Week  Venetian Pool  Everglades  Fairchild Tropical Gardens

Uniform Policy  Students MUST be in uniform EVERY single day.  Boys must have their shirts tucked in and be wearing a belt.  Belts must be black  Socks must be white  Shoes must be ALL black  Students may only wear navy blue sweaters with NO logo except the Mater Gardens logo.  Strict enforcement beginning the week of September 3 rd.

Parent Portal  Parent pins were written in your child’s agenda book.  Please login to stay up to date with your child’s grades.  You can set up notifications to you when a grade has been posted.

Volunteer Hours  Parents are required to do 30 community service hours.  For every $5 spent you will receive 1 hour.  Please remember to provide receipts.  Each student received hours for bringing in classroom supplies during the first week.  Gift cards are no longer accepted.

FCAT-4 th Grade  Writing  February 25 th -26 th  Math  April 22 nd -May 7 th  Reading  April 22 nd -May 7 th There will be an FCAT parent night to give you more information and specifics on dates.

Parent Teacher Conferences  If you wish to have a parent conference please indicate that on the sign in sheet.  If at any other point in time you wish to have a conference please me at or send a note to school with your child.  I am pretty accessible via , so that is the best way to reach me  Any other questions or concerns please feel free to me at any time and we will get back to you as soon as possible.

Supplies  Please make sure all supplies have been purchased.  Please make sure your child comes to school prepared each day.  We are ALL about organization in 4 th grade.
