Disease control and prevention not simple. Work was done in karasarich –kotido district. Goat Plague(PPR)&Contagious caprine pleural pneumonia(CCPP) vaccinated in sheep & goats. Contagious bovine pleural pneumonia (CBPP) was vaccinated in cattle. Vaccines provided by Oxfam and MAAIF.
Kotido is found in northern Uganda. In the Karamoja sub-region. Bordered by kabong in north, Moroto in the east, Napak in the south and Abim in west. Has estimated human population of 203,900. Main source of livelihood is livestock.

There was low vaccination coverage. This was attributed to the following; Inadequate staffing( 1 veterinarian). Poor vaccine storage facilities. Bad weather and over flooding of roads. Insecurity in some areas. Lack of transport in the field. Poor cooperation from farmers.
To the government of Uganda; Improve on security conditions in the region. To the district local council (kotido); Recruit more staff in veterinary department. Offer logistical support to the department. Procure solar powered refrigeration facilities. To the farmers; Cooperate whenever such interventions are done.
