 9 th, 10 th, and 11 th grade students should take the assessment to become aware of its content  11 th graders are eligible for Merit Scholarships if their scores are high enough  Students need to release scores to colleges and universities when they take the PSAT  Colleges and universities pay Collegeboard for information concerning students and their scores  The assessment is give in October

 Students should begin taking the assessment during the spring semester of their junior year  They need to be aware of testing dates  Students must have an account on Collegeboard.org Students have to register for the test on this site and can control sending scores here as well.

 Students may choose either of the assessments for admission  Colleges will superscore; students should release scores each time they take an assessment  Students must have an account on Actstudent.org They will be required to submit a photo ID for any assessment they take.

 SAT  Critical Reading, Math, and Writing Critical Reading and Math are used for admission  ACT  English, Math, Reading, Science, Writing  English, Math, Composite  Writing for juniors is no longer an option

 There are changes that go into effect next year.  Juniors-2 courses of rigor and a 3.0 GPA  Sophomores-3 courses of rigor and a 3.0 GPA  Freshmen-4 courses of rigor and a 3.o GPA

 3.0 GPA  Public school-85% tuition covered  Private school-$1800 per semester  Maintain a 3.0 GPA  Only pays for 127 semester hours  7 years from high school graduation

 3.7 GPA  1200 SAT (Critical Reading/Math) in one sitting  26 ACT  Val/Sal  Public-100% tuition  Private-$2,000 per semester  Maintain 3.3 GPA

 Georgia High School Writing Test is a requirement for graduation.  Its structure will change for the freshmen class.  The new writing test will be a two readings and an essay based on both readings. Instead of one writing prompt, students will have to address several questions in the essay.

 Early Decision-Early Decision deadlines are early November. Acceptances are also earlier and usually come out by the end of December. Transcripts and test scores are used in the early decision process.  It is binding. Students will have to withdraw all other applications if they are accepted into a school.

 Regular Decision-Regular Decision deadlines can fall anywhere between November through March, with the majority of them in January and February. Colleges will usually let you know their decision by around March 15.  Students have a chance to submit transcripts, letters of recommendation, résumés, etc. for consideration.

 Rolling Admission-Depending on when you apply, you'll be notified of a decision.  If a student is accepted, this leeway allows him or her to plan things such as financial aid, housing, classes, etc.  Students can find out which type of application process is best for them by being aware of their own academic information.

 Students should always have a copy of their unofficial transcripts. They should know what they look like on paper. Schools will want that information.  Students should maintain their GPAs. They are one of the most important elements for admission.  Students should know how to convert their percentage on a 4.0 scale.
