International Full-Degree Student Services Began with workgroup discussions in September 2011 Representatives from Admissions, Study Administration, Student Guidance and the International Office Oversight of group coordination and servicing of the students remained with the International Office Steering Committee: Niels Henrik, Rie Snekkerup, and Anne Mette Hou Regular meetings about existing services, student needs, and available resources resulted in a Commissorium we presented in March Commissorium (and accompanying budget request) was approved by CBS management in April We started our planning in April/May!

IFDS Services With over 3,000 IFDS we needed to find reasonable solutions to meet their needs Same needs as the incoming exchange students, but even more so Integration of IFDS is critical to their academic success, as well as their personal and career fulfillment while in Denmark It was important that we found a way to provide good, clear information to the students in sufficient time It was critical that the CBS community found a way to work together to service ”our” students It was necessary that the IFDS felt a warm welcome to CBS and could establish themselves in Denmark, like exchange students (Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs) It was critical that we help the students settle, so they could focus on their academic life

Phase One Services As our first effort to implement a coordinated service effort, it was decided to be ambitious but not unrealistic Services to include were: Introduction Seminars of 4 different themes each week in September International Activities throughout the year to broaden the IFDS’ understanding of Denmark and Danish culture AND To promote integration among the international and Danish students Heightened and special services for non-EU students (scholarship and fee-paying) International Student Ambassador program as support network International Education Week in November

Introduction Seminars Primary session: Welcome and Introduction on September 8, 2012 Following supplemental sessions: Improve Your Studies Engage Yourself! Working in Denmark Already have ca. 50 students registered!

Next Steps Implementation of Phase One in Primary focus on activities and resources in fall Focus on student evaluations and IFDS survey in spring Make necessary adjustments for Similar program next year will allow us to compare two years of offerings Phase Two will build upon the first phase offerings, but hopefully have strengthened resources to develop services to a higher level
