Feedback of Greek stories: Aesop “The Hare and the Tortoise” (Iceland, Cyprus, England, Portugal) and “The cicada and the ants”(Sweden, Italy)

Iceland The hare and the tortoise A turtle and a small mouse are walking. The rabbit and a turtle walking. Walking and meeting the flowers. The rabbit looking at the grass and a flower and feathers. The rabbit and a turtle are sliding. The turtle is crawling and the rabbit is eating. The rabbit is “looking a lot” and the turtle is behind it. The turtle and the rabbit are walking. They get a trophy. The rabbit does not get a trophy. The rabbit is crying because the turtle got the trophy. They are going to own the trophy together. 4 years old children’s interpretation of the Greek story.

The hare and the tortoise stood at the starting line The hare leaves the tortoise behind. The hare takes a nap. The tortoise is crawling slowly but steadily. The tortoise is the winner!

The children who are 5/6 read this story. The children knew the story from the title as it is also popular in England. The children enjoyed seeing the children in Greece. They thought that the pictures of their drawing and their acting was nice. The children thought the story was about a fast hare who thought he was the best and a tortoise who kept on trying. The hare raced the tortoise, but he was so far ahead he had a sleep. When he was asleep the tortoise went past him and won the race. We learnt that you should not think you are better than someone and that you should always try your best. Greece’s story of The Hare and the Tortoise

Portugal:Traditional Story from Greece The hare and the tortoise Once upon a time a tortoise and a hare made a run. The hare was resting and fell asleep... The turtle did not rest and was always walking! The tortoise won the hare and the hare stoud crying. The turtle was selfish because they did not share the trophy! And victory, victory... It´s the end of the story!!!

Then comes a butterfly who played the guitar too and there were flowers singing. The butterfly sings, eats strawberries and coconut pastries. Then she goes to play the guitar, while the leaves fall from the tree. One day, the butterfly meets the ants, they bring on the back a steak. Then the butterfly is resting and she puts a sweater because it's cold and puts affixed to the guitar to go to rest.

The cicada and the ants- Sweden The traditional story from Greece interpreted by children from Sweden at the age of 4-6 years - all in their own words: It is a fly…. or a wasp playing the guitar or the viola. Then he becomes tired and falls asleep in a tree. It is summer because there are flowers. Then the autumn comes because there are mushrooms and flowers round the fly or wasp. At the end it becomes winter and the fly or wasp is hunted by two ants and then it falls asleep. Jutarums preschool Halmstad Sweden
