 Double Replacement Reactions- The exchange of positive ions between two compounds.  How to complete a DRR:  Take the first part of the first compound, and add it to the second part of the second compound.  Take the second part of the first compound and add it to the first part of the second compound.  Always write the metal in the compound first, then the non-metal  Make sure you get the charges from the elements done correctly  Balance your equation and you are done.

AB + XY --> AY + XB

AgNO + KCl  AgCl + KNO **Notice how in this one H and OH combine to form H2O** isp_Reaction-Precipitation.html

AlCl+MgCO 3  Al 2 (CO 3 )+MgCl 2 *Skeleton 2AlCl 3 +3MgCO 3  Al 2 (CO 3 )+3MgCl 2 *Balanced BaCl 2 +K2CO 3  BaCO 3 +KCl *Skeleton BaCl 2 +K2CO 3  BaCO 3 +2KCl *Balanced

Find the skeleton equation for this double replacement reaction and then balance it! HCl + NaOH  A.)HOH + NaCl B.) HOH + NaCl 3 C.) HNa + ClOH D.) ClOH + HNa HOH + NaCl

What is the balanced chemical equation for this double replacement reaction? BaCl 2 + K 2 CO 3  A.)BaCO 3 + 2KCl B.)BaCO 2 + 3KCl C.)BaCO + 3KCl D.)3BaCO + KCl BaCO 3 + 2KCl

 All compounds with Na, K or NH 4 ions in it are soluble in water.  Soap (KOH) was synthesized by Egyptians, Romans, and the Chinese. The Chinese used a double replacement reaction to create it.

Iron(ll) Iodide + Aluminum Sulfide  ??? A.) Turn the names of the compounds into formulas. B.) Finish the skeleton equation. C.) Balance the equation using coefficients.
