The Anmai University Library aims to provide : a facilitating learning environment, quality services, readily-available resources conducive to the promotion of excellence in higher education and professional development of students and preparing them as ambitious and forth-thinking individuals. Mission Statement

Resources – Build a consortium for constructing and sharing of digital resources; an equal balance between print and non- print/electronic collections for the library IT – Offer a safe platform for technological development and support Five Goals

Library environment – Construct a new and safe library building through application of new concepts on spatial development and technological infrastructures; incubate and build a knowledge-based environment leveraging on the advantages of digitization and networking Services – Supports i-learning for students and i-teaching for teaching staff through networking Five Goals

Staff – provision the library with the sufficient number of qualified professional staff and support team; development of new and young librarians/support staff; develop a novel organizational culture in management of libraries and its resources Five Goals

SWOT Analysis The Anmai University Library SWOT Analysis Strength 優勢 Weakness 劣勢 Human Resources remaining staff are core to forming strong backbone in rebuilding the library – hardworking, experienced, some receptive to new technologies, talented, ready for change and innovation Existing staff gained high regard from teachers and students Collection Resources Strong base of library collection – 80% of the print collection survived Human Resources Devastating shortage of both professional and support staff after the disaster reserved mindset of part of existing staff Collection Resources Breakdown of air-con system aggravates damages brought to the remaining collection

SWOT Analysis Opportunity 機會 Threat 威脅 Human Resources Will be having a new team who can be mould in the mindset to accept changes in the organization and practices Ready users Having faculties of young teaching staff who will be receptive to new ideas and new mode of delivery of services running out of time for reconstructing the new library building unwillingness of the 5 universities to collaborate with the Anmai University Library

Opportunity 機會 Threat 威脅 Ready users Having faculties of young teaching staff who will be receptive to new ideas and new mode of delivery of services Having a student user group who strongly ask the library for improved e-collections and collaborative space High potential opportunity to open up Library to night school students of Sidney Polytechnic Perceived collaboration opportunity of the 5 universities with the Anmai University Library SWOT Analysis

Opportunity 機會 Threat 威脅 Financial Resources Promising budget increase for the rebuilding and new acquisitions in the coming 10 years, allowing for recurrent and additional spending required on maintaining the new collections Support from UNESCO in negotiating for better offers of e-resources to be provided to the Library, and infrastructure connections to the web and national library resources Support from the top patronage of the President and Director for the new library SWOT Analysis

Automated circulation service by means of RFID Web reference services Discussion/Research Room for study and research Remote access services for night school students User education and training courses/sessions for (1) students, (2) teaching staff, (3) university staff of the 5 universities in the same province, on web New Services to Be Provided
