Objectives of Research4Life Programmes (R4L) To connect developing world researchers with the international scientific community To reduce the ‘publishing gap’ and improve the quality of locally produced articles and journals Ultimately – improve health, food security and environment in relation to Millennium Development Goals of 2015

Primary Target Audiences Eligible categories of institutions are: national universities professional schools (medicine, nursing, pharmacy, public health, dentistry) research institutes teaching hospitals government: ministries and agencies national medical libraries locally based non-governmental organizations (NGOs) All permanent and visiting faculty, staff members and students are entitled to access and can obtain the institutional User Name and Password.

More than 100 countries, areas and territories HINARI: health research (up to 13,000 journals, up to 29,000 books and up to 70 other information resources, more than 5,600 registered institutions, up to 170 publisher partners) AGORA: agriculture research (up to 5,300 journals, up to 3,600 books, up to 20 information resources, more than 2700 registered institutions, up to 60 publisher partner)

OARE: environment research (up to 5,700 journals, up to 14,000 books, up to 40 other information resources, 2600 registered institutions, up to 60 publisher partners) ARDI: development and innovation research (up to 3,900 journals, up to 15,000 books, 5 other information resources, more than 300 registered institutions, up to 15 publisher partners) updated

R4L Programmes Similarities As of July 2014, HINARI, AGORA, OARE and ARDI portals look quite similar Access for journals, books and other bibliographic databases, reference management softwares and free access resources are 99% identical The following screen captures will summarize these similarities
