HISTORY 1970s Founded in 1974, at the beginning, the main goal of the school was to ensure well qualified staff for the Romanian national telecommunication operator. At that time Romania was developing the telecommunication network – particularly the land line network. For the next 20 years our college was the unique school in the North West of Romania capable to train and develop technical competences for the workforce in telecommunication field.

1990s The Digital Revolution Major changes in telecommunication technology took place; analogue equipments and technology were replaced by digital ones, voice technology converted to computer network, and the internet era began. The school had to reinvent itself. New qualifications were offered in the electronic field

2000 Our school applied for a grant provided by the European Union PHARE Program for the rehabilitation of the technical schools. The results were: new equipment for teaching and training, rehabilitation of the entire building new qualifications were offered.

PRESENT At this moment “George Baritiu” Technical College Baia Mare means:

An enthusiastic team of 50 teachers, engineers and trainers, who combine tradition, experience and good conservative values, with youth and need for challenges

24 classes consisting of around 700 well motivated and enthusiastic students Of course, wearing the school uniform in the school’s colours – blue and yellow
