Chapter 16, Section 4

Maintenance Needs Handling an urgent maintenance need: Call the maintenance or engineering department Request immediate response. Handling a routine maintenance need: Explain the problem to a supervisor. Help supervisors fill out a maintenance request form, if they ask for help.

How can banquet setup employees play a key part in their property’s security system? They watch who comes in and out of function rooms and storage rooms, and look for unusual situations or people not authorized to be in back-of-the-house areas. The property counts on them to help prevent theft of tables, chairs, and other items. They report missing items to their supervisor or security employees. If they see someone who does not belong in an area, they immediately notify their supervisors or security personnel. They are also alert to and report danger situations, such as burned-out light bulbs, broken windows, and locks, people who seem suspicious or out-of-place, and other problems or possible problems.

Cleaning Tasks Vacuum function room carpets. Steam extract function room carpet. Sweep floors in function rooms. Mop floors in function rooms. Clean hardwood floors and parquet floor in function rooms. Wipe tables and dust as needed.

End-of-Shift Duties Collect soiled linens and take them to the laundry. Break down ice buckets. Break down water pitchers. Break down the coffee station. Clean tables and chairs. Wipe down function room furnishings. Vacuum carpets Clean and restock banquet side stations. Set music, HVAC, and lighting system controls
