Temburong School Proposal

The hardware and software that the school will need to set up the internet  Routers; to form intranet. intranet  Form of Modem [Telephone line, direct cable, cable, or wireless]; to have access to internet connection  Web browser; to preview websites browser  Terminal Emulator; to manage the connection found in your Operating System  Firewalls; to prevent students and others accessing certain files  Anti-virus, Anti- Malware software, spam; to reduce viruses that attack computers and to get rid of spyware that slows down the computers

The available Internet connectivity options and Internet service providers in Brunei  The only internet service provider in Brunei is TelBru.  The main types of internet connection in Brunei are Dial-up, E-speed and Leased Line. However there is also WAP run by DSTcom and internet connection associated with 3g phones run by b- Mobile (TelBru).

The advantages and disadvantages of each service and how they are different. Type of Connection:AdvantagesDisadvantages Dial-up is a communications service that needs to dial their ISP to access the internetISP Limited connection timeUnstable internet connection E-speed is a high speed communication service using ADSL.ADSL 24hrs connection, high speed internet access and bandwidth, can talk on the phone and surf the net at the same time. bandwidth Sometimes very slow because of the amount of users that access E- speed. Leased Line a special telephone line rent to people. High bandwidth internet connection and is a dedicated connection Only leased for private use.

How data travels on the internet  Internet consists of: Satellite dishes; communication towers; Routers; Web servers  With these objects data can travel can travel by communication channels and networks that are set up and operated by several companies.

Internet Protocols and IP addresses  The Internet Protocol sends files over the internet to reach the another computer which has its own individual IP address. Internet Protocol IPInternet Protocol IP  Every packet contains both a source and a receiving IP address. An IP network either assigns a fixed IP by the network administrator or a software assigns a dynamic IP.  Routers, firewalls and proxy servers use fixed addresses. The IP address assigned to your internet connection by your Internet service provider; This uses dynamic IP.

How you are going to control the content that students will access  We are going to control what the students’ access by setting up firewalls in the intranet system so that they will not be able to access inappropriate material over the internet. Also the netiquette must be enforced. netiquette
