ABOUT THE ASSOCIATION Guided by the belief that every life has equal value and rights in the workplace SAPEA aims to work in assisting our friends, colleagues and society to lead healthy and informed productive lives. Mission SAPEA aims to bring together peer educators working in the South African workplaces in unifying the response on the management of HIV/AIDS Vision- SAPEA aims to promote a healthy and stigma free workforce to service and grow the South African Economy Objectives SAPEA aims to build an active network of workplace peer educators thought South Africa SAPEA wants to build a solid network of advocates who can lead in the implementation of workplace program to assist our friends, families and colleagues SAPEA aims to provide technical assistance,training and support to other peer educators and the people living with HIV/AIDS SAPEA through advocacy and lobbying aims to improve HIV care, access and quality of health services for peers in the workplace infected/affected by HIV/AIDS SAPEA aims to influence policy decision making in both private and public sector for the improved quality care of people with HIV
Location This shall be a national association, with 9 provincial network committees representing the 9 provinces of South Africa. Organisational structure SAPEA shall be governed by elected leadership organized into three categories: National Committee this committee shall be made up of one chairperson of the provincial committee. The 9 member national committee shall elect the following after 2 years: Chair person, Deputy Chair, Treasurer, Advocacy Officer; Membership Officer and Secretary Provincial network committee the committee shall be made up of between 5 to 9 people representing different business sectors in a particular province. These people shall be elected at provincial peer educator workshops. Peer educator network this shall be a network of all peer educators in companies in South Africa.
MEMBERSHIP Membership fees shall be paid annually at a fee of R per peer educator, Membership is for those professionals/practitioners involved in the field of peer education /wellness and other related fields through their means of employment or as an additional task to their responsibilities. How membership will be paid Individual membership – R per annum, Membership shall be paid monthly, Quartley or annually through a debit order system Period of Membership The period of membership for Individuals and Service Providers is 12 months (1 year) from the month of registration. This would mean that once membership has been approved and processed (e.g. January 2011) that specific membership would expire after 12 months (e.g. January 2012).
