Component in food Fruits and vegetables, have almost none Nuts, oils, butter, and beef are examples Important part of a healthy diet Helps people feel satisfied Increases the risk of heart disease Helps to absorb some vitamins

3 Major types: -Unsaturated fats (Olive oil and salmon) -Saturated fats (Butter and cheese) -Trans fats (Margarine and snack foods) Helps a kid's body grow and develop
