6 Welcome to ICB UK Program Writing Center! The Writing Center is a place where any ICB’s UK Program student can get help with his or her writing. You can get one-on-one teaching. Making an Appointment If the center is busy, you must schedule an appointment. Walk-in Appointments All ICB UK Program students are eligible for walk-in sessions, even those who have had an appointment earlier in the week. Students who want additional time beyond one session per week can use walk-in sessions. To get a walk-in session, come to the Writing Center and put your name on the Waiting List. The waiting list works on a first-come, first- serve basis.

7 What can I do in the Writing Center? 1. You can get general information about English writing. 2. You can discuss writing topics. 3. You can get feedback from professors 4. You can get information about study abroad program 5. You can have professor check your homework In summary, it is very useful for you!

8 When can you come? Right now, you can just stop by anytime during the regular hours. If we are busy, then you will have to sign up on the sheet. Just write down your name, student number, class, date, and time

12 Assignments: You will have 1 listening and 1 speaking homework every week. 1. Listening homework You will listen to the CD at home and report on it the next class. You will talk about what you listened to and I will ask you questions. 2. Speaking homework You will prepare a short 3 minute speech about a topic that I give you every week. You will talk about it in class and I will ask you questions 3. Speaking homework 2 You must give a talk in front of the whole class every 2 weeks.

13 Reminder for L. Homework Format: For listening homework, write your answer. Then check the answer in the back of the book. Write the correct answer in red ink. For your 1.5 minute speech I want you to type it, print it, and bring a copy to me in class. Practice your speaking homework before class

14 Remember Class Points: Class attendance – 10% student can miss only 1 class. 2 lates = 1 absence Coursework – 50% : participation – 10% speaking homework – 10% listening homework – 10% speaking test – 10% (week 5) listening test – 10% (week 5) Session End Exam – 40% = Listening – 20% Speaking – 20%
