2D Challenge TERM III

Singapore Unmanned Delivery System Overview  The Government is considering designing and deploying an automated fresh milk delivery system using low power UGVs. These vehicles do not have refrigeration systems.  They would like SUTD students to design and demonstrate a prototype that would serve as a key element in the final decision regarding whether or not to deploy the system, and if deployed, then how and where to deploy it.

The Automilk System  We would like people to be able to place orders and ask that milk be delivered at a specific time and place, an Automilk System. –From special Milk Plants (MP): pasteurize, pack & individual milk cartons –To one of the several Fresh Food Distribution Centers (FFDC)  The design task is to develop programmed robots that will collect the milk cartons from the milk plant and carry these to the customer.

What is used now?

Demonstrations  SUTD students are asked to design, build, test and demonstrate a prototype of the AutoMilk system, for one milk plant and several distribution centers. –Amigobot is the preferred robot –Python the preferred language for software design –For policy maker scenario studies  The government is asking SUTD for help in defining what ‘fresh’ means in terms of an engineering requirement such as the allowable time the milk can be at any particular temperature.

Deliverables and Schedule  Week 10 –Friday Morning, 9-12  Demonstrate –Insulated carrier for loading and unloading 1-6 milk cartons –Using the provided loading and unloading concept –A quantified freshness requirement for the maximum allowable robot travel time  Week 13 –Friday morning, 9-12  Demonstrate –A UGV prototype delivery system –Capable of several simultaneous and sequential UGV deliveries. –A scaled carrier prototype (Week 1) will be provided
