Presentation transcript:

Each organ in every organism has a job or a “function”. The structure or “form” of each organ is somehow related to this function.

Look at the following organs and consider their form and functions separately.

 Click on the hotlink at the top of each of the following 4 slides and read the text about each structure. OrganJob 1. Capillaries 2. Heart 3. Human Skull 4. Lungs  As you read about each organ, copy the table into your notebook and fill out the table’s blank “Job” column as you click on the links and read.

 Top view of infant and adult

 Now go back and pick one part of each organ’s structure that helps it do it’s job. OrganStructure 1. Capillaries 2. Heart 3. Human Skull 4. Lungs  Click back on the links and reread the text. Copy the table above and complete the blank column with a description of this structure.

 Now we know the “job” of each of these organs and how its “shape” helps it do its job. SO, how does each organ’s structure, shape or FORM enable it to do its job or FUNCTION? Copy the sentences on the following slide into your notebook and use the information from the first two tables you already completed.
