New York State Standards Know the standards within your discipline. – English Language Arts – Katie Ernst Science – Cooperating Teacher Math – Diane Nelson Technology – Mary Jane Gangloff Art – Janet Vedder and Jim Kostecky Music – Michael Shamrock Physical Education – Jackie Marks & Chris Palmer

Character Education Character traits are introduced at a monthly assembly. Students who display good behaviors are recognized. Contact person – Michael Shamrock

Behavior Management Student teachers should follow the behavior management plan of the co- operating teacher. Modifications can be made to the plan, with input from the classroom teacher.

Fire Safety NYS requires 150 minutes of fire safety education per year. Contact person- Debbie Bojanowski

Bus Safety Lessons are taught 3 times per year. Objectives are provided by the Transportation Dept. Disks containing lesson plans are available in the main office.

Interdisciplinary Lessons You may wish to incorporate other grade levels or disciplines into your lessons. (Reading Buddies, projects with Art, Music, P.E., or LMC.)
