Book Log Bingo Response Directions Name: Book Log Bingo Response Directions Fold a piece of paper into four squares. In the first box, write your name, today’s date, the book’s title and author, the page range read for the entire week combined, the minutes read for the entire week combined. (If you did Raz Kids all four nights for at least 25 minutes, write your name, the date, and “Raz Kids ____ minutes.” Then skip the rest.) On your Book Log Bingo Card, choose three different boxes that relate to your reading. Write today’s date in the corner of each of them. Write your responses in the three remaining corners of your folded paper. Bingo responses should be quick: they should not take up a lot of time, but they should be done correctly. If you did Raz Kids for some of the nights, write “Raz Kids, 25+ minutes” and fill out only the boxes for the nights you did not do Raz Kids. Check your work. Titles should be properly capitalized and underline. All blanks should be filled in. Handwriting should be neat. Sentences should have correct capitalization and punctuation. Answers should be written in “Great Short Answers”. This means that the question is embedded in the answer. Example: Question: Who is your favorite character? Why? Answer: My favorite character is Charlotte because she is kind to animals. 6. Turn it in on Monday in your homework folder.

When you finish all of the boxes, you may start over and use each one twice.  Explain a text-to-self connection from your reading. Include the page number(s) where you thought of it. If you wrote a letter to a character from your book, what is one thing you would like to tell them? Be specific. What book or movie does this book remind you of? Explain why by using a piece of evidence from the book (a detail, example, quotation, or paraphrased sentence) and connecting it to the movie. Describe a prediction you made during your reading.   List three juicy words from the text (words that make the reading come to life). Also write the pages numbers on which you found them. Write down a metaphor or simile from your book and include the page number in parentheses. Choose a decision that one of the characters made. What was the decision, and do you agree with their decision? Why or why not? Is this book the right reading level for you? Is it not too easy or too hard, but just a little challenging? On another piece of paper, sketch a setting from the book. Include a caption. Who would you recommend this book to? Why? Do you like the book so far? Why or why not? Give at least two specific reasons. Explain something that you learned from reading this book. Think of a time where you created an image in your head of what was happening in the book. Write down the page umber, and then draw the image or explain what it looked like.  Write down one word from your reading that was new to you. Include the page number on which you found it. Write down what you think it means. What is the genre of the book (mystery, science fiction, fantasy, realistic fiction, historical fiction, etc.)? Explain why. Explain a text-to-text connection. In other words, explain one way in which your book related to something else you’ve read. Write a 1-2 sentence summary of what you read. On a separate sheet of paper, draw a cartoon that shows something that happened in the book. Include the page number(s) that the cartoon shows. If you were to make this book into a play or a movie, what is one thing you would change? Your choice-pick any one of the ideas on the card or make up your own.
