Basics Most organizations are currently going through the elections process. It is important to have an effective plan to transition new officers for many reasons: ~New officers will re-register your group with Campus Activities ~New officers will be in charge of the organization. If they do not know what they are doing, the organization will suffer.

Things to Think About ~Most transitions happen at the end of the Spring semester into the Summer. You will need to plan to work with new officers soon so they are prepared for summer deadlines including but not limited to: 1.Call for Programs (Due by May 4 th for Fall 2012 Semester) Curry Office Space Allocation Application (Due May 18 th for year). ~For larger organizations, think about having a day or a couple of days focused solely on transition Think about having a retreat or other event to work on transition and building relationships between new officers ~Do your new officers know your constitution? Bylaws? Bylaws do not need to be formal like the constitution, but they will be just as helpful to your group!

Communication! Make sure your successor knows the importance of keeping in contact with your advisor! New officers should be fully aware of who is the Campus Activities Program Manager for your group! Inform new officers that Campus Activities, your group’s advisor, and the Student Involvement Board are here to be resources to student groups.
