Rosa Parks Rosa Louise McCauley Parks (February 4, 1913 Tuskegee, Alabama – October 24, 2005Detroit, Michigan) was an African American civil rights activist whom the U.S. Congress later called the "Mother of the Modern-Day Civil Rights Movement."

Harriet Tubman Born Araminta Ross 1820 or 1821Dorchester County, Maryland – March 10, 1913 Auburn, New York was an African-American abolitionist, humanitarian, and Union spy during the American Civil War. After escaping from slavery, into which she was born, she made thirteen missions to rescue over seventy slaves using the network of antislavery activists and safe houses known as the Underground Railroad. She later helped John Brown recruit men for his raid on Harpers Ferry, and in the post-war era struggled for women's suffrage.

Coretta Scott King Born April 27, 1927 Marion, Alabama  – January 30, 2006 Playas de Rosarito, Baja California ) was an American author, activist, and civil rights leader. The widow of Martin Luther King, Jr., Coretta Scott King helped lead the African-American Civil Rights Movement in the 1960s. Mrs. King's most prominent role may have been in the years after her husband's 1968 assassination when she took on the leadership of the struggle for racial equality herself and became active in the Women's Movement.

Sojourner Truth Born 1797 Rifton, New York – November 26, 1883 Battle Creek, Michigan. She was the self-given name, from 1843, of Isabella Baumfree, an African-American abolitionist and women's rights activist. Truth was born into slavery in Swartekill, New York. Her best-known speech, Ain't I a Woman?, was delivered in 1851 at the Ohio Women's Rights Convention in Akron, Ohio.

Susan Brownell Anthony Susan Brownell Anthony (February 15, 1820 Adams, Massachusetts – March 13, 1906Rochester, New York) was a prominent American civil rights leader who played a pivotal role in the 19th century women's rights movement to introduce women's suffrage into the United States. She traveled the United States and Europe, and gave 75 to 100 speeches every year on women's rights for 45 years.

Bessie Coleman Elizabeth “Bessie” Coleman (January 26, 1892 Atlanta, Texas – April 30, 1926 Jacksonville, Florida ) was an American civil aviator. Popularly known as "Queen Bess", she was the first African American female pilot,and the first person of African American descent to hold an international pilot license.
