BENJAMIN SCOTT FOLDS Born September 12 th 1966 in Winston-salem North Carolina Song writer and composer Plays lead rock piano in the musical group Ben Folds Five Started playing the piano at age nine Won his first battle of the bands in 1988 as a bass player
EDUCATION Attended the University of Miami's Frost School of Music Dropped out with one credit left to go to work on his piano technique
BEN FOLDS FIVE Formed in 1994 and released their first self titled album in 1995 Whatever and Ever Amen was released in 1997 and produced several singles including “Brick” which put them on the map The band released two more albums leading to their break up in 1999

SOLO CAREER As of 2008 Ben Folds has released 6 solo LP’s Ben’s first solo release was Rockin’ the Suburbs in In 2006 Ben wrote three original songs for the movie soundtrack of Over the Hedge. Ben Folds Five reformed in 2011
COMPOSITIONS Performed with the West Australian Symphony orchestra (WASO) The Boston Pops Orchestra A second tour in Australia which included performances with the Sydney Symphony at the Sydney Opera House, Adelaide Symphony Orchestra, Western Australian Symphony Orchestra, Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, and The Queensland Orchestra The Utah Symphony Orchestra at Deer Valley He wrote or co-wrote the scores performed by each symphony
