ACADEMIC CHOICE “Write your own success story”

Few people know how their lives will turn out. You may not know exactly who you are yet, or what you are good at and really enjoy, or who your life-long friends will be. And guess what! You don't have to decide just yet.

Academic Choice lets you figure things out as you go. AC gives you freedom to explore your interests. Discover where you excel. Develop the strengths you want. Meet extraordinary people.

What makes Academic Choice what it is? Choose your classes one year at a time. Choose which Math / Science / Foreign Language, etc. Select exciting courses that challenge you. Build upon those or try others. AC allows the most academic and non-academic electives. All classes are college-preparatory. You will be held accountable for your work. AC holds all students to high standards. AC has students, over 40% of the BHS student body. AC does not predetermine your four-year schedule. Keep old friends nearby. Surround yourself with potential new friends.

What that means for you. After the requirements are met, there are six year-long elective slots left. An extra elective every semester The greatest number of academic electives at Berkeley High Choose World of Media, Politics & Power, Comparative Religions, etc. The widest range of AP and honors courses are available to you. Rigorous math and science opportunities Traditional math courses with honors or AP options at every level. An AP option for each branch of science (start sophomore year if you like.) Academic support when you need it Tutoring, extra Science Labs, Accelerated Reading, etc. Find kids who share your interests. Learn from classmates with various world views. A large social network You get to decide how to fill them.

Explore your interests and discover your strengths. If you want a program that lets you customize your high school experience, Academic Choice is the place for you. Who do YOU want to be? ACADEMIC CHOICE “Write your own success story”
