WHAT WE’LL COVER What is the Couple Checkup? How can I benefit from using the Couple Checkup? Multiple ideas on how and why to use the Couple Checkup 4 Keys to Success

RELEVANT QUESTIONS Are you satisfied with the scope of your organization’s work with couples? Would you have a physical only once in your life time? Why should I use Couple Checkup when Prepare/Enrich works so well?

UNDERSTAND THE DIFFERENCES A lighter, less technical version Flexible for multiple uses A Discussion Guide is included for couple interaction with the assessment A Group report is available to understand group dynamics Written in the style of a “self help” tool. Results come directly to the couple

UNDERSTAND THE DIFFERENCES PT. 2 Still based on the Core Relationship scales found in Prepare / Enrich New scales have been added such as military service, personal stress profile and more Includes a comprehensive “Discussion Guide” full of helpful discussion starters and exercises

FROM THE DISCUSSION GUIDE

CHECKUP IS FOR ALL COUPLES Dating Couples- -over 6 million cohabiting couples need to decide whether or not to marry. Engaged Couples- -only 40% of engaged couples receive premarital preparation. Married Couples- -wait to long to find help, when issues are “terminal”.

1.Discover 2.Share 3.Celebrate 4.Implement Four Keys to Success

Get couples to take the Couple Checkup - Taking an online relationship inventory and generating a Couple Checkup Report will pique their curiosity. SUCCESS KEY # 2 “DISCOVER”

As they explore their results, each couple will discover both strengths and issues. They'll see where they agree and disagree and gain insight into one another's perceptions of their relationships. A couple needs to know where they're starting from to chart a course for where they want to go.

TAILOR-MADE TO EACH COUPLE Online--takes advantage of the power of computers and the internet. First asks variety of background questions. Selects most relevant scales for each couple from over 60 scales. Including Military. Result is a tailored assessment, unique for each couple. Each person takes it separately from any internet location.

CHECKUP REPORT Results in Seconds page Report Highlights Strengths Flexible PDF file to review and print Can forward to Facilitator

DISCUSSION GUIDE Suggestions Couple Exercises Discussion Q’s Church Based with Scriptures is available

SUCCESS KEY # 2 “SHARING” Set up accountability to the process! We encourage couples to engage in discussion in a "let's discover new dynamics in our relationship" rather than "let's fix something.”

How can you create a safe environment for open discussion? The topics covered in the Couple Checkup help generate productive conversations couples wouldn't otherwise have; conversations that apply specifically to their relationship. * Research Shows that if couple will complete the materials their relationships will improve

GROUP REPORT The Group Report gives a detailed overview of the groups dynamics, Strength and Growth areas.

GROUP REPORT

Create at positive "Buzz" Just like any other program we offer, we have to create a "Buzz" The more you get to participate, the more people will be having parking-lot conversations about the Couple Checkup. When you promote Marriage Enrichment present it as: Couples making a good marriage better Making available a marriage enrichment tool We can all benefit from learning new skills Discover the next step to a stronger relationship Share from the pulpit that Pastor and Spouse are taking the profile and encourage participation. Share a learned insight from your profile IDEAS - WHAT OTHERS HAVE DONE.

Here are some things other churches have done. You can: Preach a sermon series, over multiple weeks, using the themes of the Discussion Guide as your topics. Have people do the exercises along with you and your spouse each week. Launch small groups or Sunday/midweek classes that use the Discussion Guide as an outline for 6 to 8 sessions. Offer a weekend retreat where you "go deeper" into the subjects presented.

SUCCESS KEY # 3 “CELEBRATE” Have Couples share testimonials in services of how their relationships grew or changed for the better. You may want to consider having a special marriage celebration dinner or potluck. Call it a "date night" and offer a short, fun program and child care.

BE READY TO MEET THE NEEDS IN RELATIONSHIPS THAT MAY BE UNCOVERED. The outcomes, in some cases, might be conflict in relationships that is stirred up Have Prepare-Enrich Trained Coaches/Mentors ready to meet with couples with more serious problems. Circulate an approved referral list of counselors and therapists for your leaders to use if necessary

BENEFITS TO COUPLES Couple enjoys getting back results Primes couples for positive change Personalizes content and scales Highlights Strengths & Issues Guided interaction keep couples engaged in the process

SUCCESS KEY # 4 “IMPLEMENT” Visit Use These tools!” Step #1 - Consider purchasing the “ Couple Checkup” book as a resource (includes free code for one person) Discounted to $16.95

Step 2 Explore the Free Resources Click on for Group Leaders Tab & Explore Set up a Group (Free of charge) - This opens the Group resources to you Download Group Leaders Help Guide Small Group Study Guide (Church- based)

Step 3 Make a list of 5 couples who would make great Coaches. Have an informational meeting with them to discuss possibilities. Think of 2 other couples you can informally go through the CC materials with. Plan a Marriage Enrichment cycle for your group and get it on the Calendar. Consider using the CC for a weekend retreat.
