The Lakeshore Health Care Alliance A Proven Team Since 2000

Lakeshore Health Care Alliance: Strengthening the Health Care Workforce in Manitowoc and Sheboygan Counties Lakeshore Health Care Alliance Purpose Statement: The Lakeshore Health Care Alliance is a collaboration of health care, educational and community organizations in Sheboygan and Manitowoc counties. We strengthen the health care workforce by:  Sharing information  Identifying needs  Supporting innovative educational and professional opportunities  Keeping health care careers and career ladders visible  Providing opportunities to diverse populations

LSHCA Achievements: Revised Website: 7 High School Career Experience Events for 122 area students 20 students attended the LSHCA Health Careers Summer Camp in students graduating this May- all are going on to post- secondary education. 9 have declared a health care interest. Provided 4 online health care college courses through the Lakeshore Health Career Academy- 65 high school students Worked with NEWAHEC to provide 3 Interprofessional health career events for college students

LSHCA Achievements: Collected and distributed over 300 health care professional journals to high school teachers, students and adults considering health careers Provided an advisory role to area educational organizations for new and expanding program needs for HIT/HIM management programs Provided two health care educational topics to local health care professionals and community members Provided 6 human patient simulation trainings to health care organizations for skill development and education competencies which encompassed 8.5 days of training

LSHCA Current Goals:  Implemented our yearly strategic planning meeting in March 2015  Will continue the follow programs: Career Experience, Job shadows & Journal distribution Health Careers Summer Camp LSHCA Academy Educational programming/topics Mobile human patient simulation Provide advisory role for area educational organizations for new and expanding programs

LSHCA Future Goals:  Increase membership by engaging: Long Term Care facilities and local Workforce Development Board  Provide programming to expose non-traditional health care professions to young males  Work with UW-system to develop additional courses for the LSHCA Academy  Better use of media outlets to create awareness as well as to promote our mission and accomplishments
