Each question will be worth 15 marks and some questions will expect pupils to be able to extract information from the case study and apply this to given questions. Eg Using examples of stakeholders from the case study, suggest their influence on the Hyrdo … 3 Section 2 This will include 4 questions each out of 10 marks. Each questions will be about a general area pupils have covered for example one may be mainly based around the Finance Unit. For all questions it will be important for pupil to look at the command word and the mark allocation to suggest how long answers should be.

Command Words It is very important that pupils familiarise themselves with the handout on Command Words as many are still writing far to little for their exam style questions. Example – Compare the objectives of a public sector organisation and a plc. 2 [One of the main objectives of both public sector organisation and a plc is to maximise profits – although sometimes public sector organisation as may just be required to operate within a budget with no profit making.] [One of the main objectives of a plc is to increase market share, whereas a public sector organisations main objective is to provide a service.]

Describe - Example Describe three external factors that can affect the success or failure of a business. 3 [Government may introduce legislation that a business must follow which can be costly to a business].[ Most businesses also need to keep up to date with the latest technology for example using e-commerce to increase sales]. [Environmental factors such as an unexpected flooding or unseasonal weather, can contribute to the failure of business.]
