History of College The word "university" is derived from the Latin universitas magistrorum et scholarium, which roughly means "community of teachers and scholars.“ 1 From ancient universities to modern colleges the concept of a body of educators instructing a new generation in order to securing a stronger community remains a successful measure of continuing an organized society. 1. "Universities". Encyclopedia Britannica (11th ed.)

Pathway to success 1.The concept of success varies greatly for each one of us. So what does success mean to you? 2.If you know where you are going do you understand what is needed to get there? 3.If you do not know where you are headed do you feel confident in exploring, questioning and learning? The resources are all around you !

Where are you headed? Do you know your strengths in life? - Browse careers by key words, industries or even complete a personality index to see what your natural tendencies may drive you toward. Myer-Briggs Personality Test- Have you mapped out your experiences, your interests, hobbies, and daydreams? Never give up on a dream just because of the time it will take to accomplish it. The time will pass anyway. - Earl Nightingale

FERPA Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act “If a student is attending a postsecondary institution - at any age - the rights under FERPA have transferred to the student. However, in a situation where a student is enrolled in both a high school and a postsecondary institution, the two schools may exchange information on that student. If the student is under 18, the parent/guardian still retains the rights under FERPA at the high school and may inspect and review any records sent by the postsecondary institution to the high school.” However, if the parent wants to speak to a Mohave Community College Employee about their child it is wise to have a FERPA release on file. The student can dictate whom to release information and on what information. The form can be located in the Forms Repository on the Mohave website.
