 How to Use Career Cruising during the My Life! My Plan! workshop Career Coach Training Module 3

Main Screen Once your student has logged into their Career Cruising account you will see the main screen. Click on the ‘Assessment’ tab at the top of the page. 

Career Matchmaker Next, Select the ‘Matchmaker’ Assessment and follow the instructions. 

Matchmaker Results After completing the initial set of matchmaker statements, your student will get a results page. At this point, you have two options: 1)If they are satisfied with the results they can begin to explore careers by clicking on Suggested Careers or Career Cluster Recommendations, or 2)If they are NOT satisfied with the results they can choose to answer additional questions in order to refine their results.

Exploring Careers Once your student has clicked on a career, you can help them navigate using the tabs on the left side of the page. Use the Career Plan Guide to ensure your students are covering all the material and saving information into “My Plan” on Career Cruising.

How to Find Colleges 1)Click on the ‘Education’ tab in the career profile you are exploring. 2) Scroll down until you see ‘Related College Programs’ 3) Once you click on one of the options, you will be directed to this screen. 4) Students can also save colleges to their plan by clicking on the ‘Save to My Plan’ button.

My Plan Once your students have finished exploring, have them go to the home page and click on the ‘My Plan’ button right underneath their name.! You should be able to find the following: My Assessments - the results of your Career Matchmaker My Education – the school you are interested in attending after high school My Careers – the job you are interested in pursuing Please make sure each student you work with has saved information in each of these areas.. You’ll notice that there are a LOT of other resources students can use to continue their plan after today. Discuss with then what their next steps could be!

My Next Steps/Goals After you have reviewed the “My Next Steps” handout and helped your students write down what their next three steps will be you can also have them enter these “steps” in their Career Cruising Plan in the “My Goals & Plan” section. Have your student click on “Enter your short term goals” Then s/he can type in all three of the steps, or goals, they have identified.. This will allow the school counselor to review their goals and assess their progress in the future.

Uploading the Certificate of Completion During the last breakout session students will upload their My Life! My Plan! Workshop Certificate of Completion. The facilitator will provide a link that the students can use to download the certificate. Then, s/he can upload the certificate into their Career Cruising Plan for future reference. Have your students upload the certificate by going to the “My Activities & Experiences” and then clicking on “Awards & Certificates” You will then see the prompt to add an award..
