National Food Policy Since independence, Bangladesh has made considerable efforts to achieve food security, in particular through impressive increases in foodgrain availability high prevalence of undernourishment (30%) problem of access to food fundamental (50% below poverty line) large incidence of malnutrition (inadequate utilization/diets) acute problems for vulnerable groups, e.g., women and children BUT comprehensive National Food Policy, integrating availability, access and nutrition, approved on 14 August 2006
