Coastal Printing Continuous Improvement and Flex Program

 Our CI&F Program will be based on the lean manufacturing process  We will phase it into production and into the front office over the next four weeks  We will spend time training together first so that when we do roll this out to the rest of the company we will speak with one voice

A printers story Lean printing – what other say

Why Companies start to use Lean

The building Blocks More accurately – the foundations  5S  Standardized work  Visual Controls  Plant Layout  Teams &Value Stream Mapping

1. Sort 2. Set In Order 3. Shine 4. Standardize 5. Sustain

 This is another way of saying:  Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s)  The difference here though is that when the SOP is made a time is recorded for every stage of the task.  Once Standardized Work is created for ALL aspects of the company then real improvement can begin as only when you have a starting point can you move from it.  And only when you have measurements can you compare future improvements

Teams & Workplace practices

 What do we do now?  What training do we need?  Who does what?  Which building block comes first?
