Student Page Credits In this activity, we will familiarize ourselves with sharks. We will learn about where they live, what they look like, a story of shark survival, and more! The class will be split into 3 groups. Group One will consist of 12 students and be assigned to Process 1. Group Two will consist of 12 students and be assigned to Process 2. Group Three will consist of 2 students and be assigned to Process 3. The Task The students will present their completed processes to the class the following week. Student Page Credits Process 1.1: Emilie There are over 440 species of sharks swimming around the oceans. How many can you think of? Are they nice sharks or mean sharks? In this process, we’ll be focusing on 6 different shark types: Great White Shark Bull Shark Tiger Shark Hammerhead Shark Nurse Shark Sand Shark 1.First you’ll choose a partner in your group of 12, and decide which type of shark you’ll be learning about. 2.Once you’ve made your decision, print out the Blank Map and the Activity Page for your type of shark. 3.Then visit the Resource Page(s) for your type of shark and use the information to answer the questions on the activity sheet and/or complete the puzzle. 4.Then find the map on your Resource Page(s) and use it to color in the areas that your shark lives. 5.Be prepared to present the following week what you’ve completed and learned to the rest of the class. For this activity, your group will be separated into pairs and given one of six sharks: Process 2.1: Cayman Great White Shark Bull Shark Tiger Shark Hammerhead Shark Nurse Shark Sand Shark 1.With your partner, visit this resource, find your shark, and print out a picture of it.resource 2.Then draw and color a basic picture of the shark. Make sure to show correct colors and label important parts of your shark. 3. You and your partner will present these pictures to the class the following week and explain the appearance of your shark. Student Page Credits Process 2.2: Cayman The presentation should include: 1)The adult sharks average length and weight. 2)The sharks colors and any noticeable markings such as spots or stripes. 3)Any physical features such as fins, tails, or heads that make the shark recognizable. Also note your presentation will follow the group from Process 1 with the same shark as you. For example: the group from Process 2 with the Great White drawing will present to the class after the group with the Great White activity page.
