Introduction/Goals INTRODUCTION: August 21, 2012 Welcome to Solorio Elementary school’s 13th annual Back to School night. It is my pleasure to have you here tonight. I would like to welcome you and your child to my class. Tonight I will be covering information about the class. This is my 17th year of teaching 3rd grade. My wife teaches 1st grade in the San Bernardino School Distict. We have two beautiful daughters named Malia and Kailani. I chose to become a “Teacher” primarily to witness and share in the joy of student success. It is wonderful to be in a profession that involves providing encouragement, supporting young people to believe in themselves, instilling in them the motivation to learn, teaching them the importance of respect, and having the opportunity to positively mold their “Gifts and Qualities”. Children bring to the classroom their own uniqueness. It is my task to discover that uniqueness. Discovering their uniqueness will allow me to lessen the complexities of learning to meet their needs and increase their self-esteem. GOALS: Students will demonstrate grade level expectancies Students will become responsible citizens Students will strive to do their best Students will become a cooperative member of the classroom and Solorio Elementary School

Homework HOMEWORK INFORMATION Homework will be assigned on a daily basis. Every morning students will be responsible for writing their homework down in their planners. The homework assignment is shown on the video projector at the beginning of the day. Students have ample time to write out their homework. If for some reason your child forgets to write down his/her homework assignment, the information is available on the classroom website. *Students are responsible on submitting their completed homework to me the next school day. I check their HW each morning and the morning work I assign them correlates with what they completed for HW. This provides an extra accountability for them. Work that come home with no markings need to be returned to school. Work with markings and parent signatures are to remain at home
