BUILDING ORIENTATION The building is oriented along a North South axis. This minimizes East and West facing wall surfaces which reduces direct heat gain. South, East and West facing windows have exterior sun shades to reduce direct heat gain.

PREVAILING WIND ORIENTATION Prevailing winds run from North to South. The primary entries are sheltered by the classroom wings located on the East and West sides of the building.

NATURAL LIGHTING All classrooms have natural lighting. Interior light shelves bounce additional daylight into classrooms. The mall area has clerestory windows to provide natural daylight to the interior of the building.

ENERGY EFFICIENCY All windows are constructed with dual pane insulated glass to reduce exterior heat gain and reduce internal heat loss. Each classroom has its own efficient roof top Heating, Ventilating and Air Conditioning package unit. The roof is designed to be 30% more efficient than a standard roof.

CONSTRUCTION COST REDUCTION The two story design reduces material and construction cost of roof by 50%. The concrete masonry wall design eliminates the need for interior and exterior wall finishes.
