Background Knowledge We’ll be Right Back After These Messages’ purpose is to share information and facts. Thus, it’s genre is expository. Product replacement, athletes selling sports drinks, music videos – television advertisers use all of these to persuade viewers to buy their products. We will read about some strategies advertisers use to sell everything from a mop to a compact disc, as well as some rules they must follow when advertising products for young children. Each year, businesses spend millions of dollars on advertising for children and teenagers. Although children and teenagers may not have much money now, advertisers want to build a “brand loyalty” that will help in the future.

Preview and Prepare What is the title and the name of the author and illustrator? Preview the selection’s pictures, what can you gather from them? What do you do during commercials? Skim page 426, can you find a fact?
