What is TechPrep Began in the early 1980’s as an option (opportunity) for HS students Locally driven; career oriented Today - major national strategy for improving students' academic knowledge and technical skills Still locally driven but funded through Perkins Vocational and Technical Education Act; still career oriented though careers today are healthcare, biotech etc 47% of nation's HS offer at least one TechPrep program; nearly every community and technical college is involved

TechPrep at SFCC Have been involved with this program since the 1980’s Our TechPrep Consortium has received regional, state and national recognition for innovation and collaboration It is an important funding source for Technology and Applied Sciences Expand into very rural areas of North Central Florida
