The second-order parabola smoothing: where b – speed of change of the levels of time series c – acceleration

The second-order parabola smoothing is done when the preliminary analysis shows that the second differences are approximately equal between each other - the first difference; - the second difference

To determine parameters Least Square Method is used:

To determine the parameters least square method LSM is used:

Smoothing of time series with the help of power functions or exponent is used when the preliminary analysis shows: the level of time series is changing with approximately the same chain coefficients of growth. The coefficient b is interpreted as the average coefficient of growth

To determine the parameters the function is preliminarily changed to the linear form by taking the logarithm of the left and the right sides of the equation We do not find out a & b, we calculate lga & lgb
