Tabs Why use them? Tabs accurately align words or numbers Tab Alignments Left-aligned – even on left side Right-aligned – even on right side Center aligned Decimal align
Tabs Default setting every 0.5 inches Can set before typing or after text has been typed. Leaders – series of dots, dashes or line that appear before entries aligned on tab settings. Used to guide the reader’s eyes while they read the line. EXAMPLE: Table of Contents
Indenting Entries Used to adjust the left and right edges of paragraphs. Sets off one paragraph from another or draws attention.
Types of Indents Paragraph Indent Left Indent – moves all lines of text to the right. Used to set off a paragraph. Full Indent – moves text both left and right. Used for long quotes.
Paragraph Spacing and Indenting Create space between paragraphs without using the enter key. Saves Time
Tables Unique and flexible way to organize related information both horizontally and vertically. Components of a table: Columns and rows make up a cell. Where they insect is the cell. Insert table by create a text frame, click table on the menu bar and insert table. Enter number of rows and columns.
Selecting Cells Range – group of cells in a table that touch each other. To select a range, drag mouse over the cells you want to select. Use the ctrl key to select several ranges.
Adjusting Appearance Border Weight – thickness of line. Gutters – controls how close text in a a cell column comes to the edge of the cell. Fill - adjust the tint to the strength or intensity (use a low tint when typing text over a gray color) Grouping Cells – lets you combine two or more cells into one larger cell.
